Isn't the point of oldschool that they've been done a hundred times to death and no one wants to see them anymore?
But okay, I'll bit. It would be nice to do a proper raytraced voxelscape with reflections, like the one in Toasted. Never did code that back in my SW rendering days...

a plane can be defined using a normal, but it can also be defined with only two axes as in 2d?. that is it can be defined in 3d-space with only two axes? if those two axises are rotated in 3d space, because you can for example only roll the plane with the z-axis (as an example). then two axises are enough?
...if one dont want to roll the damn plane
Oldschool effects I haven't done but would like to:
-voxel tunnel
-voxel torus
-voxel ball
-voxel cylinder/twister
(all of them could be more easily done with shaders today, might try that too)
- ifs fractals
- flame fractals
- 3d quaternion fractals
- mandelboxes, etc
I try to think of older effects and I don't remember something in 2d I haven't touched. But I'd like to improve some oldies too.

you dont even need to cope with shaders to understand how they work.
