Probs for the massive 3d, but the whole xy-only-demo mess is getting tiresome.
I like it :)
You'll get my thumb when this runs on my geforce! ;-)
The video sure looked great and everything but the real deal always looks greater then video so I hope you make a new geforce friendly version soon!

A pity for the comatibility, butthe prod is just plainly magnificent !

ati-only strikes back!
slooooooow yet impressive visuals.
but:
you do not use portrait scans as credits! you do not use portrait scans as credits! YOU DO NOT USE PORTRAIT SCANS AS CREDITS! ;)
i demand a 60fps video version! :)

a nice one..
kamoulox ! et je reprendrais bien du tiramisu malgache :]
more seriously,
very nice flow & design.
i like this theme better than the one of your last demo.
needless to say your engine kicks.

Hehe... Nice one :) But please make it Gforce Compatible ;) hehe.... not as dark as Raw Confession.... but had also some hard moments *ggg*
quite slow on my radeon9600pro, but i liked it :)
uber massive
good demo!!!
Once again a cocoon demo does not run fine on my pc (well, this time it neither freezes nor reboots, that's a good start).
The music is good (good job Willbe) and the visuals look nice (although watching a demo through a divx file sucks imo, it soils Sheena's and other graphists'work).
Therefore thumb down to guille for releasing once again something that does not run on my pc (or runs at 4 FPS on my Geforce FX / 1700xp Ahtlon).
Thumb up once you release a decent nvidia version, demos are meant to be executed, not seen through divx.

WTF.... arrghhhhhllll....

I forgot: I dont like it when my firewall warns me about a demo trying to connect to the internet, whatever the reason (.NET or anything else)
some parts look really really cool and the music is excellent. but i still wonder why it requires so much of the hardware. also is the video supposed to be fucking jerky?
hey! where is the blood? where is the humour? now trance/techno with mecha style? :D that's ok.. A lot of work inside but I think that stills something to be great as demo..
i dont know if im missing something but wouldn't it be better as a wild considered it contained mostly meshes? and i assume those light, shadow and "glowing" effects came from some hardware extensions so from my pov. it doesn't look like the coder had much to do. The textures of the meshes were great but it lacked some really nice 2D-images and also the music was really "trancy" which is far from my taste. It's just about a piggie from me.
Really cool. Visuals and music are stunning.
1 Point left... Want the Music 4 download *ggg* Place a downloadlink please ;)
ookay....
pro: cool graphics, cool music, cool design, cool flow
con: sloow (radeon 9600pro here), and those glows had really ugly banding artifacts that I assume aren't intended...
rulez overall, but ati only (grrrrrrrr), and a final version is definitely in order...

can't wait for final version. i have radeon 9000..... uhmmm....
Ha - pigface for now, because some of the effects did really look good in that jerky divx. But I will add a sucks if there is no nvidia version in a few month ;-)
ati only
good stuff
spengler.. we don't need you here.. get out please
It sucks beyond limits! WORST STUFF EVER!
STATIC MESHES AND HORRIBLE SOUNDTRACK.
I don't care if it dosn't work on certain cards, are we suppose to IGNORE all great GUS demos just because you need a GUS card?
Someone tell me what place it got, if it's 1st i wont be surprised since all lamers voted it up because of the COOL AND HIP soundtrack and being DRUNK didnt help voting either, did it?
Almost good enough for a last place, why wasnt it disqualified?
Superscroller is better!!

Great work guys
as always with cocoon's demo..don't work on too many machines....

Awesome! I've been waiting for something like this for years.... rocking soundtrack, fitting meshes (even if static... at least these ARE meshes and not the Nth torus-knots), nice lighting, and surprisingly short loading time (from Cocoon at least :)))
The atmosphere somehow reminded me of the game Tron2.0, which is good for me, because i loved it :)
thanks guys!

Ah so nice. nice style, nice music! nice nice.. ~_~
same meshs in raw confession...
With robotic voices and electronic music, a bit like odd's zorld dominartion, a bit like cocoon. Ruled at the party and hopefully I had seen it there because I don't have the gfx card required.
Great style.. Those overlays really worked great with the 3d. I missed the usual death and destruction a little though, but nice to see cocoon try something different.
Ill have to buy a ati card now, if this continues.

Having been somewhat unimpressed by the DivX, I don't think I really care about getting a GeForce version
roxx.
great gfx.
energetic techhouse/trance music.

ok, i can understand the 'gf3, similar or higher required' of raw confessions ... but not ATI only ... i just don't want to watch the .avi. A demo is not meant to be seen through a divx.
Release something descent and i will maybe vote for it!

btw video sucks (runs only at 15 fps)
Hmm, anyone else only see 4mbs worth of stuff in there?
And very unimpressed, if this came 1st, how bad was 2nd?
And why does it feel the need to connect to my DNS server?

ATI only, ok, bye...
releasing incompatible demos is a crime.
the video looks promising, but radeon only..? no thanks.
It's odd that people who thumb this down for incompatibility don't thumb down geforce-only demos.
I was just about to say the same thing
I cant see how this can be Radeon only, as its DX9, i guess tho, if they use floatingpointbuffers or so (heard FX hasnt fixed support for that yet)..
Great demo!
Great demo!
well hmm nice prod and everything. too bad i can only watch the video.
but i NEVER understood why the hell people have to put their audio uncompressed to the video.
Now the video is irritatingly blocky which isn't really a surprise when the it's about 90kb/sec (while the audio is 170kb/sec).

et tenshu aussi...c'est lui qui fait presque tout dans toutes les demos cocoon
I'm with sagacity here, once the shoe is on the other foot, Geforce owners get all whiny. :)
Cocoon mentioned during the prize giving that there will probably be no final version, and definitely no fix for geforce users.

nice demo by some very nice guys.
love the colors, meshes and shadows, but imho scenes are just a bit too static :)
love the colors, meshes and shadows, but imho scenes are just a bit too static :)
The shadows are a bit blocky, and it's a bit slow, but some scenes are really nice. I especially liked the dreamlike quality of the final scene (yes, the simple one with the cubes).
Pro: Extremely pretty, and I like the music somehow. Con: ATI only, Radeon9500+ only, buggy shadows, slow code. A final of this thing (preferrably running on GF3-class hardware if possible and 5-6MB smaller) would rock. :-)
This prod certainly warms ati owners' heart :)
The meshes looks nice but they are jerky on that fucking video.
I can understand the pixel-shader requirement for a demo but NOT the xx-manufacturer only.

nice models.
nice design touches.
ok music.
but...
I won't thumb up a demo (which happens to be ati only ) that makes my radeon 9800pro crawl, with shadows and lighting that look like shit...
Could have been really good if the visual quality hadn't been so far below todays standards.

probably not the best cocoon demo ever, but it's good enogh for me to like it... even if i had to grab the divx to actually see it! on the other hand having a divx is better than nothing. at least the cocoon guys care enough to make one.
No problems on my GeForce FX, well except for the framerate..
Nice scenes!
Nice scenes!
ups for the music and the lighting.
thx for enjoying me
med, i've enjoyed you all party!
Superb 3d models, textures, concept and atmosphere...Yep this seems to be the year of the "GLOW" effect, (first seen in 2001 by recyled/ByteRapers?)...the code is ok, needs some fixing? here on Win98SE+DX9+ATI Radeon 9800, the shadows appears *NOT* soo soften, and every 0.5 secs, the demo stops and go on. Althought LOVED that DOF applied to some scenes!!! Great!
It was hands down a carpetbombing of cool visuals, and they were lucky that the fuzziness of the beamer masked the ickyness of the shadows and glares. I'd love to see that fixed one day, but even still...good show!
Overall tremendous and well-polished. Use of pixel shaders
is now far less "demonstrative" but far more "effective".
E.g: the DOF is used with plain adequacy: not too much, but
gives this prod a "mood" i'm found of.
Kind of demo that makes me think the scene is
ever maturing to catch up with technological novelties.
And that's exactly what i expect the scene to do...
(along with whining and complaining, of course :) )

Geez i SO second Reptile+Sagacity et al. here...
This demo is fucking great.
This demo is fucking great.
Another "Proper" demo ... nice textures & 3d obj.
reptile: you're right. good job should not never be flamed. I like this demo. to be honest, it's very impressive despite the ugly 1-fps divx :p.
BUT could you explain me why it's ATI only when most demos are optimized for geforce?
you will say: it's the same problem for ATI users!
ok, but who told sceners to prefer geforce if they want demos not to be f**** up because a lot of demos are "perhaps working on ATI"?
only NV or only Geforce demos are not a good thing. The fact is that I own a geforce like most sceners so I even don't see it when a demo is "NV only"...

"only NV or only ATI" I meant...
Noone exept for maybe shiva/kolor would prefer a geforce infront of a r9500+ card today, obviously as its the card that supports most, and is fastest. And also has better imagequality than Geforce crap...
Sorry to tell you this, but throw your geforce card out thro the window, not many demos are gonna work for you from next party EITHER!
And still, I DOUBT this is REALLY ATI only due to DX9 api wouldnt allow such shit... My guess is that Geforce FX doesnt support something or that it acctually works on Geforce FX but just runs shitassslow (but hey, what doesnt on geforce fx?;).

Stop naggin all of you! it just rockz! :D
A ATI one, aniway excelent one.
Ok.. great demo it seems. But too slow on my GeForce FX. So I will give it a thumb when I 'll succeed in seeing it at a decent rate. 'Coz now it's more like diaporama demo. And I am not rich enough to buy a radeon just for watching a demo. So like Sokoban I will say : "ATI only, ok, bye..."
not bad...still, raw confession was a lot better :)
"But too slow on my GeForce FX"
Then it wasnt ATI only afterall! I was right as always!
Damn Iam good..

The gfx were nice imho opinion, but the engine... Well, even the divx framerate was sucky, so a piggy for me, waiting for the final (if there's one).
It really rocks, I loved the shadows and the lighting effects... At least the design is perfect and the sync is really good, I simply loved it, thanks cocoon for this demo, I'm waiting for your DivX since I do not have ATI car !
Ok arneweisse. It was ATI only rated. But wtf if I want to watch it in 2-3 fps. That's my choice. Then I have enough time to discern those superb effects!
so powerful ! i'm glad Cocoon wizards didn't make a Raw Confessions 2 ;) (i even liked the futurist calvary scene lol)
and thumb up for Reptile's so right remark ;)
and thumb up for Reptile's so right remark ;)
I would put a thumb up because of the ass-kicking willbe soundtrack. but making a demo just for ati 9500 or above, and not planning to make a port really sucks !
there should be something in the rules of demo compos. 95% of the people just can't watch the demo
please do something !

quite a different style from cocoon, but i like it. my 3 thumbs up for the musick.
"95% of the people just can't watch the demo"
Although the scene.org poll shows that 27% of sceners have a radeon9500 or better, so um... your logic's wrong! PLAIN WRONG!

Moreover I never saw a Cocoon demo functioning normally on my comp. I know that doesn't have any link but it was necessary that I say it. Sorry.
the number of 95% was eggagerated but 73% is still HUGE. And even if you don't count the onboard crap and non-pixelshading etc it's 51.8% which is still way more than those 27%.
All the more the members of cocoon still don't plan to fix that.

average demo... still this evil feeling... but cocoon can do better, so therefore a piggy
ati only
Why would Cocoon coders who makes great productions care about lamers stuck with 80s hardware? If it wasnt for groups like Cocoon i wouldnt even be downloading demos anymore.
Nice demo, but a tad traditional. Great work, but please, do more sick twisted raise the bar stuff (:
hm, seemed to bug a little.
(banding artifacts and this weird blob-formation-without-envmap that looked like the product a low-quality mc triangulator)
but as already said, good!

btw: could it be that the divx lags at some scenes??
"ready to demo" and then it skips out ;)
This is demo! rocks.
worked surprisingly well on my gef fx9500... but then, raw was really lots better. the sound rocks on the ground of being really powerful, yet the visuals are a bit uninspired compared to it. most of the demo is carried by the audio alone.
the scenes are spectacular, but it's full of "electro" cliches, like the vocoder, space invaders and other flashing sprites. they've been more creative in the past.. but they deserve props for having the balls to code some dx9 stuff. i'll enjoy it realtime someday. :)
quits while loading
nytrik is very good =)
gheh, this just looks like a childish console/MariovsSonic war :P
We've seen some GeForce only demos, back then the ATI people were complaining. Now there's an ATI-only demo and the ATI people blame the nvidia people for it :\
Nvidia demos are evil, ATI-demos are justification, is that how it works?

oh, I was sure lyrics were:
"my computer, you're computing"
and in fact its:
"I compute you, you compute me".
I prefer my first understanding. ;))
great music indeed.

ravity: well, apparently it does seem to run on gf fx cards, and even at a slideshow pace! ;)
A great demo.
The music, the visual (code and scenes) and the rythm of the demo are just at a higher level.
As it was finished a week before the deadline, I'm just waiting the final version with some scenes going at higher framerate and with a smoother gradient in the glow effect ;)
For the ATI only label, it only means that is uses capabilities not already supported by current nvidia FX cards (I don't know what, I don't really see FP-Framebuffers), but next nv cards should be fully compatible. (Unlike the GUS story)

Not too great, but at least better than Raw Confessions :)
A very nice demo!
Everything was good, the music, the graphics, the 3d and overall design... maybe some of the overlay graphics were a bit too pixelated, but guess it was meant to be that way :) Engine also rocks, though the shading routine seems not to be perfect (or it's yet another style thingie) and it surely ain't the fastest one around.
Extra points for making it ATI only ;) Have seen too much of those "nVidia demos" around :P

Great demo - though it runs really choppy on my fx5900xt. Still thumbs-up worthy :)
the divx is too bad to really get a feel for the demo. But its obvious from the graphic quality and the cool tune that this needs a rules. Looking forwards to a fix so it runs silky smooth on my gf4mx, or (more likely ;) a better divx.
Cool and innovative show :)
thanks guys !!
thanks guys !!
impressive music that fits really well, good job will!
i only keep the divx, because geforce fx :)
i only keep the divx, because geforce fx :)
I really hope the final will run better on my system as the party version is stuttering heavily (Radeon 9700 Pro, P IV 2.533, 512MB RAMBUS PC1066). Still the prod looks good and the music fits in nicely.
it runs alright on quadro fx1000, only too slow in one or two parts (like the 'jesus scene')
All right, I killed all my background processes (keep hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL and 'End Task' until you're left with nothing but your shell a.k.a. Explorer) and that seemed to fix it. Runs smoothly throughout all scenes now. :)
i like this :)
"Coma.exe attempts to connect to the internet" ... =/

does not run on an ATI 9200 (quits after ready to demo) ready to de-mooooooo

Hmm... Some nice bits here, but presentation wasn't much more than, "here's the first part, here's the second part, here's the third part, etc.." Lacked a sort of thread to hold the entire thing together.

Uhm, somehow my subtle hint was a bit too subtle. It should be read as a "don't thumb down because it doesn't run on your sucky configuration". Sorry cocoon guys. :/
Looks and sounds good.
Some really nice tidy bits, but generally it was a little too short a needed some extra things to get really really cool. But nice work here!
Works with GeForce 6800 GT like a charm! The only thing that didn't look right was nearest neighbour filtering of glow textures, but otherwise no problems here.
A great demo indeed. But I liked the video version better. Nah, kidding... :)

Great 3d scenes lighting and good-looking textures, great music. The only thing that bothered me was the camerawork. One of my favourites from 2004.

Thumb down for being ATI only. :)
Thumb down for being ATI only. :)
IT'S NOT ATI ONLY, for gods sake. It runs on some GeforceFX and 6800, only reasonably shittier.
So it turns out it's just not old crap compatible? :)
This demo did not run on any of my nvidia cards when it was released.
oh, actually it ran at 1.5 fps on my FX and then froze afair. GF 6x00 series did NOT exist when this demo was released, thus it was ATI only.
Anyway it's not big news that cocoon demos usually don't run on shitloads of configs (even non outdated ones), check the previous ones and comments...

Slow on my poor cfg but quite beautiful indeed!
löve it
cute
Good job.
nice design, but no action
The obligatory thumb.
Pretty neat, but why the low resolution? :( Nice space invader sprites. ;)
An amazing one.
How come I didn't comment on this one yet? Anyway: great music, great feeling. A bit (slow performance wise) though.
awesome audio and visuals. another great cocoon production
So awesome it made me cry.
Just rocks.
rulezation.
seems I'm in luck with the framerate.. very enjoyable, especially the music :)
Looks and sounds so good.
uninteresting flybye scenes deserved small little piggies. however thumb down for static metaballs.
one of the best cocoon prods up to now!
i'm ashamed i didn't comment it yet.

great demo! really good design and code. especially lighting with shadowmaps (which IMO could be a little bit filtered for example using PCF to lower aliasing). music is average.
overall score: thumb up. :)
overall score: thumb up. :)
good.
cool demo, trademark atmospheric 3d, shame about that limited hardware functionality though
Runs totally smooth on a Girlfriend 6600. The FX series has sucked, no need to make a fuss about the demo, which is...
One of the first demos using PS2.0, right?
I like it. Good use of mappings and stuff.

nice bits of all sorts of things here. didn't love it, but nice shadows, nice textures etc
simply great how the greets are displayed!
kewl stuff!
kewl stuff!
Kudos!
one of the koolest demo-soundtracks ever. this demo sure is a classic. i just have some problems understanding why they choose to run it in so low resolution and with no filtering. It was 2004, not the stone age. This is still one of those demo's i'll show my grandchildren some day
It looks I've been stupid enough to thumb this down for some compatibility reason and that's was obviously stupid. It's a great demo actually with proper work done. Congrats mates.
amazing production for my top 10 !!!
even today :)
even today :)
Great 3d demo - I wish it would run at a higher resolution, though!
Good sci-fi feeling to this.
nice.
Mmmkay
Yes, a fine little prod - needs that little extra je ne sais quois to make it receiving a thumb from me, but it was damn close. I'm not a big fan of the music, though - maybe that's why?
Nice, but just a piggie. Maybe I'm in wrong mood or something. I'll save the thumb for later...
i compute u, u compute me
No comments from me ? Watched only from video stream but rullez bigtime.
Brilliant
just RULEZ!

Cracking tune and great demo!
Willbe tune, best tune <3
Very nice.
classic 2000s demo with an awesome tune!
Hell I don't even need to see this again, because I remember soundtrack is just that good.
I like the general atmosphere, but the effects are somehow lacking and the direction is a bit too random. The music was nice, I guess.
Love the track. And that part with the light columns is amazing. Still pretty good after all these years.
good one
Great feeling of build-up, and some enjoyable visual complexity and fine design.
A solid thumb.
