if it bleeps and beeps its rok'n'rol
Yeehaaarrr!! Fuckn rocks.. :D
incredible work!!!
the span between pure funkiness and the pleasure of excellent chips, be it mod, xm or sid, is just awesome. this is undoubtedly the best musicdisk I've ever heard, regardless of platform. just pure brilliance..
as mrhoward said: a gift!
ps: I miss an automatic advance between the tracks though, so it can just play in the background while I'm asleep :)
pps: reed: after this I hate you for no longer being able to call you a lamer ;)

ahah!!
The instruction at "'0x00243a86" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".
<- launching twisted_hw.exe
too bad 'cause the chips are nice (fx keys are not working in sw mode?)

dx8.1 in debug mode
k, downloading dx8.1b (and sdk)... next time, mention it correctly in the nfo...
x)
"- Mommy, mommy! That musicdisk ate all my CPU!"
"- Why don't you put it to sleep(); ?"
Although I am a CPC nostalgic myself, the tunes are quite good, the interface too. But it would be nice if it let my 1GHz+ computer do other things as well, for both the sw and hw versions... Also, an option to disable the 3d effects on the hw version (by clicking in the circle maybe?) would be perfect :-)

sweet
so it doesn't work with dx8.1a and you can't use media-player before running this? wow, excellent coding :)
THE BEST MUSIC-DISK EVER !!!!!!!!!!
compiling with dx8.1(b) headers can result in some fuzz with d3ddev creation on users running the dx8.0 runtimes. so i'd prefer fooling the factory func ;)
cool :O
OMG! the best music disk ever?
i still think his masters noise is the best musik disk, closely followed by megahawks music disk. but this one got quite a few good tunes
in fact, it only crashes with directx (8.1b here) in debug mode ( dunno why? )
pantaloon: if it's such a common bug, why is your application the only app that exhibits it, on my pc? and if you actually *read* what I wrote you'd notice I didn't actually say you should support dx3/5/7, but you were too busy flaming, I guess.
VERY GOOD!
I LOOOÖOOve you.
superbe.

Very nice job pantaloon.. and to reed maktone bliss etc =)
I am a bug report:
System #1:
Intel Celeron 1.1->1.46GHz (256K cache), VIA 133T, 512MB PC133 SDRAM, NVidia Geforce 4Ti 4200/64Mb, Windows XP SP1, DX 8.1, 30.82 detonators WHQL
System #2:
Intel Pentium 4 1800->2400 (512Kb cache), Intel 845 chipset, 256 MB PC133 SDRAM, NVidia TNT2 Ultra/32Mb, Windows 2000 SP3, DX 8.1, 30.82 detonators WHQL
On both systems, both musicdisk versions exibit 50-70% CPU ulilisation, even with the visuals disabled. I prefered to assume that you forgot to put a sleep() somewhere than to assume that your player consumes hundreds of times more CPU resources than the ones on the original machines (c64, 486 etc.).
Hope that helps :-)

Oh, on both systems, I did not use windows media player. I never use that shitty piece of software anyway - I watch my pr0n with divX player or winamp3 :-)
Nice grafikk, nice visual effects in the background and nice tunes. Fairlight
is still making dreams come true.
is still making dreams come true.
good alternative to the rebels disks, still the interface is so heavy that it makes the tunes choppy. some tracks are great some are so so. great all over experience though.
well nice tunes...some bugs here and there but it happends to all of us...never mind about it..yeah liked it...cheers guys..more to come..right?
a real nice and a great work!

But overall Very Impressive stuff, I love it

great disc, only problem i have is that i cant scroll the window in the browser for this thread while the musicdisc runs, due to low CPU on this machine ;((
i guess XP1500+ with gf2 gts just isnt ok to multitask a chipdisk ;(

nice interface, worst songs ever, except for marts tunes :)
ok....
Nice gfx, but damnit, time to make another logo to use instead of that one? Or maybe you cant? =) lalala, jk
buggY! Yeah, get errormsgses all the time, but they dont affect anything, they just plop up and dissapear, and then disc freezes for like 10 secs, and come back to life again,
oh, yeah, only 50% of the songs work, the rest wount play, mostsly maktone songs that dont play =( No clue why
Music is good, Some of Reeds songs are boring since they are made with parts from other reed songs? =)
interface is cuter than zik =)
still, Biggest Thumb up for a long long time, great work!

this was very nice, oh yes! :>
good mx, good interface!
50-70% cpu (p4-1700) usage, but who cares about that? My cpu is a slave. she's gotta work hard for the power she consumes. ;)

just love it. I specially like those sids and commie gfx
just have to say, it roxxx. nice prod. thx flt
Very nice musicdisk ;) good work guys, congratulations.
However some small details make it's not perfect ;) :
- a tune-playing progress indicator ?
- an option to loop a tune forever (so that i can listen continuously to "Summer parks" by maktone without having to press play every 2"43 ;) ?
- as it was said in the thread already, the musicdisk swallows 70% of my cpu calculation power even when it's minimized. any idea to solve this pantaloon?
that's all for now,
have a nice day

REED SI TEH MASTAH!
Nice interface and really cool tunes. Reed r000lz!!!
Cool chipdisk! You'll easily beat Rebels with their stuff then.. back to the roots! That is the right direction I would say!
woow
The interface is so cool, so are the tunes!
reed: of course, and let it be know that you are my favorite lamer :)
agreed! :)
yeah :) it rulez. good work pantaloon & others :)i love that
rocks! one of my favourites musikdiskz for now
this one in fact rulez! Great Visualization!!!
This is a very good musicdisk. The interface is way cool, almost like a small demo running on your desktop :) And offcourse the music, thumbs up to the musicians
cool stuff!!
more .SID next time please!!!
:D
more .SID next time please!!!

Title> trouble at GC / records being broken...hell yeah guys! :)

Nice chip-disk!
SID chiptunes from Maktone rulez!

great tunes, didn't hear a single one that i didn't like. i'd say the interface is a tad too huge to be incorporated into 'just' a chipdisk , but then again it fits to some of the tunes which bear way more than just the usual chip-feel.
excellent work by Maktone, Reed and the others, i like a lot this SID style
just a thing : can you add a volume button to the interface next time ?
and the scoller more fast please :]
i dont speak about sw version, wich is too complex to use for me ;-p

Love this music ...... THE BEST.... i didn`t know it was out there..... now i do.... hey every one should get the message to all the "soon to be maktone music LOVERS!" out there......PS: LOVE THIS MUSIC
Sheesh. I've totally forgot to rate this excellent chipdisc.. sorry for that.
Well, what can I say? This chipdisc totally owns. There are some minor downponts, such as the fact that some of the featured tunes aren't chiptunes. But I won't complain too much about that, because the rest of the music is so great it makes my spine chill. Especially reed's stuff (his chiptunes, that is) is stunning.
The interface is pretty nice, but I think it's sort of a paradox that a chipdisc is this cpu-demanding.
However, a "thumbs up" is not enough to describe this disc. You have to download it in order to understand how breathtaking it is.

great tunes!! (especially the turboimploder remake!) --since you included a sw version I was able to "even" watch it on my (lame) notebook.. however, next time pls don't map unsupported chars to 'A' which makes the scrolltext a bit hard to read :P cheers!
Probably the best musicdisk I've seen since the early 90s. Great tunes, pretty gfx (why wasn't AngelDawn credited btw? :)).. Nothing to complain, except that from the name I expected all the music to be chiptunes.
Great gfx, great tunes.... a playlist would have made it perfect (adding tunes in via the config file suxx ;)
reed you rule! niiiiiiiice funky tunes :D
loved the first 2 secs of the first song, then it 1/2crashed and kept on repeating those 2 secs. =[
hehe lol kthnxbye!!!!
makt1 rules my entire world :)
FREEDOM!!!!!
makt1 rules my entire world :)
FREEDOM!!!!!
SUUUUhhh-WEEEET! Found from Reed's mentioning it on his homepage and damn... the interface just rox too.
everything here works perfect... maybe the best chipdisk ive seen so far! =)
the logo bombs my ass!!!
my favourite chipdisk!!
GREAT WORK GUYS!!
GREAT WORK GUYS!!
this one was awesome, lotz of luv from Maktone in this one, just gotta love that guy (-_-')
teh best.
great for listening too at work :)
uuu-jeah! Works nicely, sounds beautiful.
Great musical selection, with nice interfaces. The HwA one looks pretty neat, and the sfw one is reminiscent of classic Fairlight style.
Great tunes!
Great tunes!
Very nice tunes!
kool gfx and effekts, great music, nice interface... i think we got a winner
great sounds - felt some tracks not as strong as others - but the more upbeat/disco ones (like 'what a day') totally rule.
Great code, very likable small interface

This musicDisk really rocks, I press the [play] button every day, while coding :-)
But where can I get the new version? Already tried to write pantaloon a mail, but my mailbox-master can't found panaloon, after I send my message. Please help me.
GreetZ Your greatest fan

Ooh, really great musicdisk! I somehow didn't expect this quality from modern musicdisks.. Love the Battle Squadron cover, sounds really close to the original (must use same samples at some parts like drums+hihats etc)... Wonderful stuff!
great tunes, neat-o interface.
oldie but goldie!
Rules!
chiptunes are forever!
what mystra said
what mr crap said
Nice chippie tunes and cool interface, though a track progress bar would have been nice...
Btw. When I exited it crashed (HW version) and took my audio output with it... Sound of silence now.
....
Good.
slick, very nice :)
simplicity!
nice.
Fantabulous. Really love the mix of c64 and more modern methods. Or, well, modern for 2002. Tunes are top notch!
Reed - yes, Maktone - hell no.
<3
POOR Angel Dawn logo ... another rape of this great piece of art ... the tunes are great, but a "winamp" skin like musicplayer is a bit outdated !
H2O, it's been made in 2002 :)
nice tunes, sleek interface.
also I still find winamp to be the mediaplayer with the most practical GUI, fuckings to fullscreen-allinonewindow-itunes-like interfaces.

Nice tunes although there were some play-code errors (dun remember what exactly...) so I preferred to play the tunes under the ordinary players
is there a chance for a win7 fix?
legendary chipdisk :)
goo, 10yrs old already? O.o
10 years after, I still consider this music disk as the best thing ever done in this category.
maktone inside.
Work great on my Win7 64 ultimate! (twisted_hw.exe)
Oppss, spoke too soon, only 2-3 songs work and then the player froze.
Great tunes and a slick interface
The imploder remix by Reed on this music disk I'm still playing 18 years later!
Unfortunately it doesn't run well on windows anymore, but fortunately you can listen to all tracks online and even read the scrolltexts for each, over on demozoo: https://demozoo.org/productions/613/
