It's not quite what I wanted, but..

feels too empty. very traditional traction style, lots of lines and particles... some beatiful moments.

looks like a collection of transition parts.

didn't quite make it over the line for me.. it built up this nice feeling and then it all ended to fast.. it felt sometimes that the scenes looked somewhat too much opengl and that took away some of the overall mood.. but never the less it was a really nice 64k. maybe some glitches in the rendering or something would've been in place.. anyway. thumbs up!

For the one person who cares, this ran fine under wine.

Nothing special. Nice clean curves and whatnot. The ribbony tunnel thing looked nice. That's about it.
cool atmosphere, it does feel kind of empty, but it kinda fits. just the thing i needed to watch right now.

Very cool Kosmisch atmospheric soundtrack
Reminds me of Bits Salad 2 with the lighted wireframe and grid paterns.

Nice 1

They weren't downloadable yet when thom posted that :)

This intro was coded in about a week and unfortunately it shows. I've had it for about a month or so now, untouched, and just didn't feel like doing anything to it anymore. I like some parts (the tunnel, the screenshot, the cube things inside the spiral), but some are pretty cold and unfinished.. I had a few ideas in mind how to breathe life on it, but just couldn't bother :p

A lot LESS boring than the average flashy flyby. Nothing we haven't seen before, but I still like those lines. And you didn't even rip the music this time :) .. The only thing I didn't like were those ugly orange texts.

Getting closer to that h+ feel. Really liked it, except for that very last scene with the text, that didn't fit the feel somehow.

Also, mac port has wrong permissions.. do: chmod 755 stars; ./stars in the terminal to run it.

I was in two minds. Tunnel I love. City scape (which isnt) made me think. Glow mode, text doesnt fit on my screen. It runs too slow for me too. Hated music and it didnt fit. Empty. I watched it 4 times before voting. I was about to piggie then, I noticed, you published the source. That swung it ...

reeeally boring, simple and empty. sorry. (nasty soundtrack too.)
added on the 2006-03-26 20:08:50 by smash smash
Well, for me this thing would only have worked if the things were connected together. There are often about 2-5 objects around, completely isolated, blending in and out. And the transitions are in a way that you can count 1st scene, 2nd scene, 3rd scene...

If it was one huge flobuwak of lines, morphing from one effect to the other with a smooth "flow", this would have been great for me. But the way it is, it's just boring. It ain't bad, though. Piggy.

Mesmerizing, minimalistic. Resembles the style that kosmoplovci and others use so effectively but isn't quite so psychotic, instead finds a middle ground between those and the reduced style first seen during the late 90's. Traction seems to get better and better. :)

To top it all off it comes on multiple platforms, with the source included.

I quite enqoyed the visual aspect of this but the backround, while initially giving a great atmosphere, gets repetitive and very annoying about half way through. Mayhaps some development with the sound to go with what one is seeing while keeping the aatmosphere could make this one quite amazing
I like the ambient atmosphere of this, music fits right in with it too.

I feel it's a demo were you have to be in the mood to let the demo grab you into it's gravitational field and suck you in. At first I felt alienated by the music, and it kept me at distance - but then after the first "ding" on my left ear - I started to let go. It's a slow pace it's traveling at, but a welcome change to DnB demos full of things that want your attention.

For some people the traveling ending scene of 2001 is just a bunch of video clips taken from an airplane showing earth in the wrong colours, for some they're other worlds, maybe worlds that have been forgotten, maybe they're really huge planets full of ships ready to die as in the book.

Surely not easy to digest, but on a Sunday with a cold beer and a warm open mind it's easy to enjoy.

Bet the glow mode looked better on a CRT, though the blue tunnel unveils a black planet in this mode (if you feel like it).
rulez added on the 2013-05-26 21:48:12 by mog mog
It's made on a CRT, yeah. The biggest problem in making this was the music, because it used big samples that did not compress well. The original soundtrack was quite different. I think some of the parts in this were recycled later in productions made under other names, but I'm not sure. One part in the beginning was inspired by a helicopter flight over an oil refinery in this excellent documentary.

Thematically, I think more could have been gotten out of this, but I got fed up with touching it and the ifparty was conveniently coming along, so I submitted it.

Seems to require PPC Mac?

Code:Bad CPU type in executable
Quite sparse and therefore it feels unfinished. Still, it is atmospheric and the music didn't really sound like a 64k tune.
