it's a shame that it didn't get into the top 3...

Impressive rendering and absolutely beautiful camera moves and slow-motions !
Really excellent.

my personal #2 in the demo compo
though it's a bit long and a bit too many gears involved here i really liked it. and the effect in the end with those color/trajectory overlays simply rocks
rulez added on the 2004-04-16 09:47:21 by Hopper/SquoQuo Hopper/SquoQuo
A bit actionless, but for some odd reason i kinda digged this one.

Why is this no 64k? ;)

Seriously, that last effect when the colors came in totally rocked.

like others, i found it boring until the colors showed up ... and really liked the trajectories sowing up, when the two gears collided up ... good work !

a bit dull at some parts but the ending compensate it:)

it was too slow on my machine to be enjoyable, but nice and original ideas, and cool filter in the greetings part. Ill save my thumb untill ive seen it on a better machine

It's sympathetic to see a new Lithuanian scene participating with something like this. I had met the two guys at the party and talked with them and voted their demo for the 3rd place (I don't remember which was the 2nd). Had some nice ideas (with the slow motion and the broken teeth ;) near the end. I will download and watch it again because I hardly remember any scenes..

very very nice and stylish 3D-show.. last effect and pictures making it perfect.. if the animation isn't scripted then the technical side of this baby is also more then impressive..
rulez added on the 2004-04-16 18:52:49 by toxie toxie
nice first production with a nice part with the colors. Whats a bit cliche is the machinery stuff - too much gearwheels at BP-PC-democompo...
rulez added on the 2004-04-16 18:54:39 by Spin Spin
Should have been in the first 3 - especially the partly coloured wheels look impressing.

good intro... oups... demo

toxie: the animations are authored in 3dsmax... so, no realtime physics here :)

Nesnausk's previous demo already showed promise, and this one is a lot better. Clearly a name to watch out for in the future..

Well. First time i miss this cute baby because of my geforce2. Dunno why this need shaders 2.0 but who cares... The result is really good and the whole this looks very great in grayscale. The color thinggie at the end with breaking cogs is rocks ! It's sixth place is shame on you guys who voted at bp04 ... :)
rulez added on the 2004-04-22 10:10:13 by AbcuG! AbcuG!
Pixel shaders (1.1/1.4 are ok, but 2.0 is better) are needed for the shadows. We are using ObjectID shadows (so we get some self-shadowing). Stencil shadows would be slow as hell on this type of models. Of course, for older HW we could have done simple projected shadows or priority buffer shadows - but as always, no time, plus ps1.1 hardware is fairly common these days :)

Quite nice.

Impressive work! I first thought it would be a boring flyby but very nice presentation tricks saved it big time! Fits into my favourites
rulez added on the 2004-04-27 12:58:29 by Vulture Vulture
And JUST when it was about to become boring, they have the purple cartoon rendering thing. I like the idea, especially the shattering pinwheels, but it could've benefitted from a bit of additional ideas..
rulez added on the 2004-04-30 12:36:32 by Preacher Preacher
dull
This is some kind of a joke, right? As I go up the windows demos for bp04, the prods get worse and worse. Please tell me it's a joke or i'm reading it wrong.
+good design +nice effects
-repetitive (but not bad) music -pixelated shadowmap when close -seems a bit too long / idea underdeveloped.
I hope the rankings are a prank, this and the mfx/kewlers prods were much nicer than the rest (saw 5 of the top 6 listed here)...
rulez added on the 2004-05-06 01:47:11 by tck42 tck42
Erm... what is a joke? This demo or what?
added on the 2004-05-06 09:01:40 by NeARAZ NeARAZ
I think he was referring to the voting results of the compo.
added on the 2004-05-06 10:29:09 by break break
Yep I was referring to the voting results. I can't imagine working for however long it took to construct this and then come in 6th behind at least 2 vastly inferior works. This, the MFX/Kewlers entry, and the Nuance prod beat the crap out of the Spontz and Calodox entry. I'm not saying this to put the other demos down, I'm sure if I was in on the joke I'd find them quite funny. I'm just saying I'd be pretty pissed if it happened to me. Was it a popularity contest type thing? Anyone who attended care to comment?
Anyhow, big kudo's on the demo, NeARAZ, I liked it alot. Reminds me of when the scene was more than an inside joke.
added on the 2004-05-08 05:00:55 by tck42 tck42
yeah - we were pissed off by results.
results are not the joke, and it was coused by people who were there and by woting system. there were some disscusions about BP woting system, and what should it be (you can find them on pouet.net phorums). i can say two things:
1) imho, comodore guys woted for winner demo
2) woting was held from 2am to 5am, iirc. so most guys didn't wote at all, and others didn't remember the names of groups/demos (we are not the well known group, so we could expect to get good place...)
added on the 2004-05-08 12:00:38 by OneHalf OneHalf
tck42: hey, everything's ok. Winnerdemo had a thing that pleased the voters - that's why it won. Heck, even I couldn't manage to get it's "we have computers..." out of my head for a week - even though I was slightly pissed off by the results.
But, considering that this is only 2nd Nesnausk!'s demo, a 6th place at BP isn't so bad! :)
added on the 2004-05-08 21:57:20 by NeARAZ NeARAZ
very original, and the greet-part with celshading and COLOR ruled :)
rulez added on the 2004-05-08 22:51:56 by termos termos
WOW!!
This one really is a _great_ production!
And it made me _really_ wondering why it got rated only 6th place in the compo!!???
That's _way_ too underrated for such a innovative and really nice designed demo!

Great ideas and surely a great style...
gfx could have been a bit more detailed in some parts/objects...but that's no real problem at all in the end!

Surely was amazes to see such a nice quality production from a (yet still not so known) group with a name like 'Nesnausk!'... ;-))

Go on, guys...you are on the right way for sure! :-)
rulez added on the 2004-05-15 03:06:54 by Weasel Weasel
Weasel: what's about "nesnausk!" name? Or does it sound funny in your language? :)
(in our language, "nesnausk" means something between "don't sleep" and "don't be idle"...)

NeARAZ:
I'm sorry, mate....I didn't want to sound 'offensive' to you and/or your group...!!

You're right in a certain way...in german your group name sounds a bit funny indeed...as it sounds unusual in the pronounciation in general! I'm also not sure if I would pronounce it right anyways when I would say it loud though! ;-)

But nonetheless...that wasn't the meaning in my other post when I wrote about it!
It was just that I've seen like a few prods from you guys from one other party I think...and didn't know you from before.
And when I now watched your BP entry I was definitely amazed from such a stylish demo.

So I was glad to see a kinda (at least for me!) 'new demogroup' raising in the scene which is also able to release nice prods as well!
Even if the name sounds 'unusual' (to me / to germans!?) ;-D

So no offense for sure! :-)
Just keep up your really nice work...and the scene will have some more quality-demogroup in future...
(always welcome....always needed....cool to see! :-))) )

Runs a bit slow sometimes, but all in all fast enough and the visuals are impressive!
Music is also well done and fits.
And the design is interesting and original, too.
Still... something is missing, but I cannot quite say what. Perhaps the objects are a bit too simple or too many scenes too similar, but the camera movements were not a problem ;)
About the ranking thing: I think there were a lot of very good productions at breakpoint. #2, #3, #4, this product and #9 were all very good, and #1, #5, #7 and #12 were also interesting, each in their own way.
In any case, I am really looking forward to seeing more prods by Nesnausk.

Lots of great touches, such as the credits with slowed down tick-tock sounds, muffled music, etc., and of course the few unexpected touches of colour. This was a really great production with several surprises. Nice work!

interesting design and rythm based on the music
colors at the end are cool
but it is too short, when it started to be good : it quit :(
The various 3D objects looked too much like eachother. I mean, you could have done more of the clockwork mechanics idea. Should have reached a higher rank at BP'04 considering the ones higher up ...
