Atari STe palette vs. Amiga OCS/ECS palette

category: general [glöplog]

Amiga palette has lots of bright AND dark colours.

Atari STe palette has all the same colours but the bits are in a silly ass-backwards order for backward compatibilititity.

JUST SO YOU KNOW.

The weired palette order is a reason to even more love the STE - anyone can have a straight palette order...

We may have weird palette on our STEs but we can use movep.l for c2p :P

(of course that's the only thing the interleaved bitplanes on the st/e are good for ;)

The STe palette has an easy explanation; keep ST compatibility both ways and extend at once.

ggn: that and clearing 32px at once with a move.l that overlaps the 4th and 1st bpl.
