If that bothers you, GO BUY A GODDAMN SHOTGUN, 2 SHELLS, LOAD IT, STICK IT IN THE BACK OF YOUR THROAT, AND PULL THE TRIGGER.
You know, some people take things too seriously. You need medication.
You go work with your shit OS, I'll use my shit OS, everybody will stay happy (I can hear Bruised Lee mouth "kids, kids... you're both right!") :)
el topo: indeed. let's hope they stop arranging "oooh, look! my pixels are big and aliasing like hell, and i almost have no colors at all"-compos. also known as "text mode"-compos on some retarded platforms.
Kids! Stay calm! Basically...no matter what platform it is (or how big the pixels are;))...we're all one demoscene, aren't we? So stop the dull platform bashing...just work on your preferred one!
everything except telmac is crap!

Amigascene and germans are here to disagree!
My theory is that truly gifted nix coders end up spending all their time working and coding apps and hacking together open source projects to fit their companies needs and have no time for coding demos.
Err, at least with the ones that I know.

Yeah, they suck! :)
nix has inferior gfx drivers and none of the software that kids are confortable using, only stubborn people with certain ideologies or people low on funds(or without warez conections) insist on using it for anything other than a server.
I use it plenty(BLAG), but I don't think there is any shame in admitting that it doesn't have fancy drivers, API's and apps. There just isn't that much money in it, the joy of linux is that feeling of dropping out, freeing oneself from the martix, fighting the corporate machine if you will. The linux scene doesn't really exist because linux kids generaly don't care about spectacle and have an aversion to competition, favoring this giant collaboration of building practical apps instead.
I think a linux scene is possible though, it could be entertaining but it woldn't be flashy multimedia, at least not until graphic card specs were released. There are a fair amount of nice sound card drivers for a few certain cards though, personally I think the sound on linux is pretty good aside from the lack of a single standard program to mix the sounds of several programs together.

/me wonders why a scene has to be the most popular in order to be deemed existent...
@Truck: No, you're right, people are just being silly here.
you know what really sucks?
discussions about operating systems.
discussions about operating systems.
from this point on i will only make jumalauta demos which don't work in any available operating system!
PC demos only work on 50% of the available systems anyway so you're in good company!
yeah lets get Nix back into the demoscene for some colourful demos
Linux will never become a decent demoscene OS until it has support for a Pig socket API.
