well, i never coded one and never intend to, but supplied music and graphics for quite a few....

Participated in two not so serious wild releases (video stuff).
Doing demoshows on a regular base at nearly all better known german parties since 1999 (own idea).
Three public demoshows for non scene people in this spring/summer.
Supported some german demoparties financially in year 2000.
3 hour demoscene radio program in June 2001 together with Wayfinder (Chaosradio #62)

I've never contributed to the demoscene. Thirteen years and still leeching!

I don't see a problem with inactive sceners sharing opinions, giving feedback and criticism. But you should be prepared to back them up.

The scene has a status ladder, and in most cases, the people at the top have earned the right to be there through years of hard work and dedication.

only one of these statements is correct

for once i think lator has a point, alot of people not doing stuff shouldn't complain.

on the other hand, some people like lator were doing demos and just got dissed, so now he's like the usual movie critic (a failure who hits back by trying to diss everyone not doing his own stuff).

ohwell who knows.. demoscene is demoscene and people are people and life is life.. etc,etc..

I have several friends who are part of the local punk scene. A few play in bands or make 'zines, but the rest just go to shows and buy records. They're considered part of the punk scene despite being nothing but 'consumers.' (The same could be said for 95% of all 'punks.')

On the other hand, I personally dislike punk music, yet have ironically made contributions to the local scene: Helped organize a (big) show, recorded a band, and some other stuff. But I will never be part of the punk scene. (Totally garbage music.) I am guilty only because some of my friends happen to be interested.

so why have public elections, we could just go home to each person and check what they wanna vote, or check what they voted last year..

what i mean is: why should i bother collecting info about all the thoussands of registred users at pouet when i can start a funny thread like this? :-D

and why should i do nice intros/demos? it takes time and motivation ;-)

Not really. It just enforces flame-wars. And then it goes like this:
"Ohh, damn he doesn't like my demo <sniff> this fucking bastard. Oh, wait a minute, I just go on his account sheet and flame every prod listed there harhar".

You know, the KOZMIK type of behaviour. :)
