codetree: Watch your code branch out
Quote:
Can digital artists learn new techniques, be exposed to new coding structures, and better express themselves by working in tandem or in a group?

macromedia flut?
Some of the stuff is rather cool, the most is not. They've got shadebobs and all :)
don't lose time browsing it
People posting gfx effects is just barely similar to what we know as "demoscene". Aesthetically speaking, most of the applets just look butt ugly.

It's the same problem as anything open like this. You might not like other's interpretations and continuations of your original effect.
If that's the only issue in the whole dynamics, it is rather easy to fix. Just force people to read writtings by seneque before partaking.
interesting. i had never heard of the Processing project. maybe a good way to introduce kids to programming... going to download to check it out cuz it could be a nice place for my younger bro to start.
processing is java-based..
j, I don't think it's such a good idea to make a kid start with C, though. Too much bullshit, not enough fun. I'd think a little child might like to have fancy results quickly, so he would not care about the underlying technology. If the goal is to make the kid discover the joy of procedural graphics, at least.
