i own an original ghost'n'goblins arcade machine and i think it is impossible to master (1 coin playthrough)....even if you constantly deposit coins it will take you years to master certain passages :)

Superplay? Man, I didn't knew those pages! Great,. it's funny to watch scary videos of finishing games, knowing that the guy is not gonna loose. It's like watching an action movie where you know the protagonist will never die till the end or something. Popcorns anyone?!

Does nyone have videos of people controlling both players together?

I almost forgot Ikaruga. A friend went to Japan and he was really happy about finishing the Arcade with just one coin. Just after that, a Japanishe came in and inserted two coins and the slot, controlling both spaceships at the same time and doing all compos and stuff! Imagine my friend's expression after that!!!

I used to play the Metal Slug series and I once finished the 1st with just one coin. The 2nd takes me at least 3 coins.

Also, I used to play probotector/contra a lot in gameboy, so once I was bored to finish it for the nth time and since I had nothing better to play, I started playing it at 200% speed in the emulator. I learned to finish it in that speed now and then I put other challenges. The 3rd challenge was that I was not allowed to shoot anyone (except from the bosses in order to let the game move me to the next stage). I could jump over enemies and duck bullets for the first level. Then, it was impossible because I had to kill enemies in order to go through passages. Then I just made some funny acrobatics in 3rd level.

In Doom, there are people who record lmp files (doom engine generates them with an option) of various achievements. Like finishing stages at Ultra Violence without loosing any fucking energy, using only pistol/punch/chainsaw (the pacifist mode), using only the punch (tyson lmps), and of course finishing Doom 1/2 in nightmare hardness level or as fast as possible. It's really funny to watch those records, but they are not coming as videos rather than lmp files that need a very specific doom version to run ;P. I once tried some modes and I could just reach the 3rd level in nightmare before I die. It's funny but unfortunatelly the lmp format doesn't work the same way in every doom version, esp. in zdoom or other newer ports..

If you've played doom, you'll find those funny. I wish there were regular videos for these too (gotta ask though).

Dogs of War (Amiga). I never managed to play it for more than a minute or two without dying.
(Except when I used the timbo f5 cheat)

witch switch on c64. the makers did obviously serve as testobjects for shrooms, which totally shows.

yet, i see myself being almost the only one boasting about this one being unable to master, then again i think i'm the only person in the world who actually knows that game.

i'd be grateful if anyone has a hint how i actually go further in the screen with the windmill after the monkey led me through the swamp.

Obviously the arcade machine games are so difficult on purpose in order to make the player spend vast amounts of coins. And before mastering a game with just one coin there have to be much coins spent for practice.

Nevertheless no problem if one owns such a machine or uses an emulator. (WHICH IS ILLEGAL without owning the machine ,ein Schuft wer böses dabei denkt ;oP )

Another reason why some (many) games are so difficult might be to raise the sales of tranquilzers.
I guess it´s a conspiracy of the game and pharma industry! =0P

I've had an actual Galaga 88 boardset for years and have played it plenty of times.. still haven't beat the thing. I have a vertial monitor jamma cabinet that I play it in. Great controls, but I still can't beat the thing. Oh well, still gives me something to shoot for!
