I don't know about you, but I prefer the police to treat people with respect, unless they have a pretty good reason not to, like, when questioning someone. The police is meant to keep people safe, they're a service to the people, not an institution for people to voice their personal opinions.
Your attitude only calls for sympathy for the rioters. However I believe the matter is so complex that I can't really take sides in it.
I really wish they'd keep it to material damage though...

November 2 - A handicapped woman, aged 56, is seriously burned when rioters attack the bus (for handicapped people) she was riding in the town of Sevran, northern Paris. The rioters had demanded all passengers to get off the bus before setting it on fire, but the victim didn't have enough time to disembark.
