i really don't see the need of advertising the demoscene in the public. things like that report about bp on 3sat are ok, though. but why does the scene have to get known in the public? maybe it (still) doesn't hurt, but there's no benefit either.

giga.tv doesnt have the right target audience to attract them - i am very pro more demoscene features in womens magazines.

The demoscene went public even long before that. There used to be demo reviews in mainstream magazines for computers like Amiga & MSX all the time back in the 80's & early 90's. Almost every person I speak to who had a home computer back then knows what demos are, it's mostly the "newskool" computer users who haven't got a clue about what demos are.

but what's the point in actively advertising it..

how did you learn about the demoscene yourself?

I remember Second Reality being reviewed in a rather big UK mag and being rated favorably over Crustal Dream 2. I mean, somebody was reviewing that?!

PC Gamer defenitely had a full piece on ASM95 (and they liked nation 0 almost as much as me).



...and the ratio between people in the know and the newskoolers is only 0.1% - 99.9% :|

It was the worst episode of demoscene at giga.tv I've ever seen. I want more arte-like stuff. The interview of clary/drifters at The Summer Party 1996 was pretty interesting.

I wish to bring Demoscene TV into this discussion now since this topic comes right into DTV's pot ; eg our mission to promote and share demoscene work to a broader audience (re: good discussion with xxx around it).
Since beginning our core value is to have Demosceners driving our programs and content development and it will remain our first priority.
However thanks to you guys the success is real and here and opportunities arise to take it to the next level, digital tv or further if we handle it carefully.

Upon previous comments, how do you see, expect, and would suggest the Demoscene opens itself to TV in the large sense of the term ?

there are other shows, too, showing demoscene stuff in tv (e.g. cinetrip, here in hungary), but the phenomenon still remains, people don't know shit about the scene. like last time they "showed a demo" called "TPOLM"! O_o

tru.dat - if there's no radar and frag limit, then they just don't get interested, i think. but again, i see no problem in introducing the scene to people. it's just the audience that counts.
tell me if i'm wrong.

metapat: respect for your work with demoscene.tv! it really brings the scene to people who care. example: here in kraków i met a VJ who's watching dtv all the time and using it as inspiration for his vj sets. just one example of many.

demoscene tv is unfiltered pure truth. lovely!

Well, you show 72551 Bingen in the south of Germany, but the party was in 55411 Bingen / Rhine, which is a bit more northern. Just check map24.com and you'll see what I mean.
