Elon Musk thread

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Hey, what do you think about Elon Musk?

I think it's pretty cool what SpaceX does for example, but the guy seems to be somewhat deranged.

I think though that some of his companies had/are definitely doing some real "innovation" on their fields. And while it's probably made possible by thousands of brilliant minds, everybody knows how hard real talent aquisition is. Jobs-style "reality distortion field" is definitely at play here, but I wonder what his true goals are?
The man is poopy.

The smelly alien will soon be running the USA, with Trump as vice-President.

@T101
So basically just a lucky guy with some money and luck to get his money multiplied multiple times?

Atleast about Tesla he talked in some podcast that there were those two guys with a car prototype, but it was designed completely again because it had stuff like 100% analog motor control etc. and afaik not even a car that can be actually used in traffic. I don't think he just "bought them", but I'm also not sure that he was a "big genious" that made them succeed.

This thread here… it's bait.
I'll grab popcorn.
"Yeah I'm testing if people on Pouet can have civil conversation about a controversial topic." :P No, I actually would like to talk about him and all that conversial stuff, but nobody going full berserk if someone on the internet is wrong.
I wish him and his cronies godspeed in getting to Mars as quickly as possible so they'll stop consuming any more oxygen on planet Earth

He's a fascist. Don't understand why people give him so much attention.
This thread is really superfluous.
I read the title as: "Elon Musk threat"

Genuine question: what makes him a fascist?
To accuse someone like Elon Musk of being aligned with fascism, one would need to demonstrate intent and evidence of behavior or rhetoric consistent with the core tenets of fascism. Historically, these tenets include authoritarianism, ultranationalism, suppression of dissent, militarism, and often racism or xenophobia. Here are examples of what might constitute evidence, although these would be subject to interpretation and debate:

1. Authoritarianism
- Evidence: Consolidating power in undemocratic ways, such as undermining democratic institutions or suppressing dissent.
- In Musk’s case: Critics might point to how he governs his companies or decisions regarding content moderation on X (Twitter). If Musk actively suppressed dissenting voices, banned political opposition without clear rationale, or ignored legal checks on his power, that could suggest authoritarian tendencies.

2. Ultranationalism or Chauvinism
- Evidence: Advocating for the superiority of one nation, race, or group, or demonizing outsiders to promote national unity.
- In Musk’s case: If he were to express or support explicitly nationalist or exclusionary rhetoric, or advocate for policies that elevate one group while discriminating against others, this might suggest alignment with fascist ideologies.

3. Militarism and Glorification of Power
- Evidence: Promoting military solutions to problems or emphasizing the importance of physical or economic dominance.
- In Musk’s case: Musk has worked with defense contractors like SpaceX’s collaborations with the U.S. government. While not inherently fascist, a shift toward glorifying military dominance or advocating for the militarization of society could raise concerns.

4. Suppression of Dissent
- Evidence: Using power to silence critics, whether through intimidation

4. Suppression of Dissent
- Evidence: Using power to silence critics, whether through intimidation, legal threats, or monopolistic practices.
- In Musk’s case: Critics could cite instances where Musk has attacked journalists or others who challenge him on social media. While his actions often fall into the realm of personal disputes, systematically suppressing opposition could cross a line.

5. Cult of Personality
- Evidence: Encouraging or benefiting from unquestioning loyalty and idolization.
- In Musk’s case: Musk’s loyal fanbase sometimes defends him uncritically. While this isn’t directly his doing, if he were to exploit this loyalty to manipulate public opinion or silence criticism, it could be a concern.

6. Disregard for Rule of Law
- Evidence: Demonstrating a pattern of flouting regulations or legal systems to consolidate personal or corporate power.
- In Musk’s case: Critics sometimes argue that Musk pushes regulatory boundaries, but these are often interpreted as risk-taking or innovation rather than systematic law-breaking.

7. Racial or Ethnic Supremacy
- Evidence: Advocacy for policies or ideologies rooted in racial or ethnic superiority.
- In Musk’s case: While Musk has not been publicly associated with such views, a documented pattern of supporting discriminatory ideologies or movements would align with fascism.

Summary:
To credibly accuse Musk of fascism, critics would need to establish a clear and sustained pattern of alignment with these principles—not just isolated or controversial actions. Most debates around Musk focus on his outsized influence, unorthodox leadership style, and polarizing rhetoric rather than a clear ideological alignment with fascist tenets.

Sorry for the occasional typos. I wish they could be edited. :]

In short, people will talk a lot of shit about anyone who stands out for anything, and Musk stands out too much not to receive a good dose of "love" from his critics. Rather than listen to what some idiot in a bar has to say about this singular man, it's better to listen to what Musk himself has to say when he's allowed to expound at length.

Did you get these points from ChatGPT, venom? it looks very structured in the way ChatGPT addresses such questions with summary, bullet point driven answers :>

I'm not sure if lucky, I think all the serial entrepreneurship of him started when he sold PayPal that was his first successful startup. Paypal is him and Peter Thiel, both had some entrepreneurial steps before PayPal. Paypal, original X.com (online banking) plus some C something financial company more driven by Thiel gave him the money.. for the first they both raised the money, so somebody invested in them.. there is certain level of luck required to clone the invested money. Many try, few succeed extremely and this is definitively not a luck function.

I personally enjoy his attitude.

He's as arrogant as fuck but also being a digital pirate... or better.. a privateer.. yelling like Jack Sparrow "take everything, give nothing back" this way or another...

At least there is some color in his life comparing to all the fucking shades of gray in the politically correct socialism that is I'm aware more popular in Western Europe.

I don't give a fuck about political correctness, even if I disagree I believe everybody has the right to speak up.. also its individual's responsibility to take all the consequences as some words literally may kill.

If you accept the rule set then yeah... all is fine..

fascism is coming back, wars are inevitable... that's a different story.. we just hear the people of the current era... many still dream about past days of glory with Pax Europa, US policing the world into safety and other globalization and one big happy world bullshit that is currently paying off... badly.

I personally like EU leadership less, today... so fucking lame. Especially in France and Germany that are a joke today.

The only blood money I see right now is German decision to go for Nord Streams back in the days... Ukrainians dying for that decision, in the first place. Herr Gerard Schroeder.. such a nice guy.. not a dork... yet I'm worried about such fuckers more than some crazy entrepreneur that has so much money, he can play with it against all possible rules, in a very visible way and you still can only kiss his ass and cry.. or call a therapist... he still doesn't care.. Arr! :)

This thread is a good example for how shutting down the BBS entirely would benefit the userbase and maintainers of the site immediately.
