Revision 2023 - Back to the E Werk - April 7th - 10th 2023
category: parties [glöplog]
I wonder if the compos could be run concurrently somehow, like bands at a music festival. 41 demos in the PC compo makes me happy because it shows the scene is so alive, but on the other hand it probably felt like a death march at the partyplace. I quit somewhere around 1/3 at home because I'm old and need to sleep.
Travelling home early, but wanted to express my gratitude towards all of you who are making Revision happening once again, and for all you people attending (and creating awesome entries!).
It felt as if things “were exactly as they used to” - and that was somehow very very comforting.

Great party!
The fact that fellow Charlie reanimated my demo to make it go, impressed me much!
Amigas 060 doesn't grow on trees in 2023. One can not either buy it in the shop on the corner. My hardware Ami left with HD broken miles away.
Massive thank you!

I left a few copies of mindcandy 3 at the indo desk, if you want one take one. :)
@phoenix: I picked up the last one, thank you! :)
Intense party. Much compo, very beer. Will need some time to recover. Hi to all I met and sorry to those I missed <3
@preacher I was also struggling not to fall asleep, and it's 1 hour earlier here.
Whoever pickup up our prize from the Wild compo, could you please send me a message :)
What a fun party! Great to see so many people again! Wish I could have talked
to way more though
Also, this really isn’t the first time the final compos ran until 03:00. Yes, it was long, but not super insane.

I survived the first 15 out of the 41 demos in the PC compo. It needs a time limit. 30 seconds to show something impressive, and if you're still in the game, you get +10 seconds TIME EXTENDED. Continue until you don't get any more time extensions, then it's GAME OVER, and you're placed somewhere on the high score table, next player in.
It was lovely to be back with you all! Thanks for yet another great Revision party.
Thanks everyone for this awesome party!
Thanks for the great party! Half an hour after arriving at the place, it felt like I never left... Barely enough time to catch up with so many friends I haven't seen for too long, I was still saying hello to ppl after the price giving :D
Please share your personal high scores on Twister and Junk Yard. I managed to get a tiny bit over 1.000.000.000 on Twister right before departing, thanks to 2 extra balls and 4x multiball. An I suck at Junk Yard, turns out the emulator version is way too easy. In other words, special thanks for keeping the pinball at Revision thing alive :D

Wow, what a blast this was.
Tired and exhausted like fuck, but oh my am i happy to have the real thing back again.
Thank you so much for organizing the whole party, as always you did an outstanding job.
And thanks to all for making cool demoshock to my wasted brain :D

On the compo topic:
How about running the long/last compos in reverse order?

That was fun! Good Talks, beer and compos. And missing the 256b Compo achievement unlocked :-D
I'm back 2 back 2 back from ze E-Werk ... safe and sound.
It was exactly like I wished it would be when writing the text in the 2020 Syntax-contribution to finally get together again on the grand scale, having a stiff drink, hugs and laughs while looking at "the thing" in the rear-view mirror.
Thanks for makin' it happen!

So great to be back and have a chat & too much beer with fellow sceners :-) and really all compos with some very good entries, didn't expect that after those years !
Yeah, PC compo was a *bit* long and may be TIC-80 needs it's own category next time, which could actually draw some more new talent.

Tip for next time: sell snacks like candy and cans of Pringles and cups of noodles at the front desk for those who stay late and still need some nourishment :)
Thanks for this great party with almost 500 releases.
Props to the person who timecoded all the entries in the YouTube-videos.

Now in retrospective, thanks to the Organizers for having made a real Amiga CDTV available to us, that was really nice !
And yes, only Revision makes it possible ;-)

Thanks everyone! it was a blast. Like some people said it felt exactly like it did before. Maybe even a bit more intense because of the insane amount of entries in so many categories (except 64k, what happened there).
Big respect for the orgas that made it all happen.
The new and improved cocktailbar was also great.
Then only reasonable solution to fix the running times is to have an extra day. I would opt for the thursday ;)

Thanks to everyone I've met, conversated, and missed.
Yes, we need to open a discussion about the last compo blocks. If preselection is not an option, just start the block at 19:00, finish at 23:00 and then go for one more 'Play It Again, H0f' show.
Showing the best demos of the party at 3:30 in the morning is just total disrespect for the makers (audience aside) - first 25 'regular' entries are getting unfair amount of attention and then the last 'premiums' are being watched by two racoons, 3 zombies and 5 streamers. Not good.
Alternatives - split half-half, move Amiga demo to Saturday, or simply PRESELECT 15 worthy contenders. Or just have the massive compo for all these ''Oh we just met at the party and this is our 5-minute-farting-pixels demo'.
And please guys, releasing party invitations in demo compo... As if watching your slide every 2 minutes wasn't enough...

we needed this badly, so huge thanks to everyone involved who made it happen. was intense and insanely funny, been a while since i've met the most of you.
componight is always long, but yeah what mentioned above, if you have no problem preselect tunes, that some people spent days working on, then it should be not a hard task to throw out a few demos which are just a quick party hack or contain obviously copied material (like a movie's soundtrack).
but of course the last 10 demos in the pc compo were worth the wait, so i was royally impressed.
