Ask "Explain the history of the Nobel prize in mathematics" and it will write a long nice essay on a non-existing Nobel prize category. This thing will say anything to get applause, it seems.
This is in fact *exactly* what it does, because that's how its training biases it. The humans rating the training examples are not generally experts on everything, so generating bullshit that can fool a non-expert leads to better feedback than admitting it does not know something.
Apart from that, it doesn't have any capability for introspection, so in order to actually acknowledge what it can or can't answer correctly it will have to *explicitly learn that* as well, which would probably take a lot of training as well as space in the model that is more gainfully used for generating better bullshit.
Training a model like this so that it *actually* learns to be honest is a pretty tough problem. Here is a blog post discussing that issue: https://astralcodexten.substack.com/p/elk-and-the-problem-of-truthful-ai
Still, I think it's really impressive what it can do already. This level of intelligence, limited as it is, would have sounded like Sci-Fi just a few years ago, and it will surely get better (especially given how much money is being poured into AI these days). Yes, it's not even close to a human-level intelligence and it has many issues, but "the marvel is not that the bear dances well, but that the bear dances at all."
I would not call that "intelligence", but rather that the results show the immense lack of genuine intelligent content in common text, speech or lyrics.
This, however, is in fact a quite impressive milestone.

One thing is sure. ChatGPT knows absolutely shit nothing about demoscene :>
But it's assertively wrong.
Hey, at least its accuracy is roughly on par with the Freax vol.1 book.
All I know is, Kiero and Gargaj were an unstoppable duo. Time to update Wikipedia!
And yeah, AI synthesizes content, rather than merely retrieving or copying it, so I can see how asking for specific facts returns a certain level of "truthiness". :)

oh yes, Kiero and Gargaj... I have all their records on vinyl!
Describe the demoscene production »Lifeforce« by ASD.
[...] One of the unique features of "Lifeforce" is the use of synchronized lighting effects in the audience area during the performance. The ASD team collaborated with the Breakpoint organizers to install a lighting system that matched the visuals on the screen, creating an immersive experience for the live audience. [...]

lol.These responses are hilarious.
Ask it yesterday: Is there a 3DO demoscene?
ChatGPT: Yes, there is a 3DO demoscene. While the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer was not as popular or widespread as other gaming consoles from the same era, there were still dedicated fans who created demos and homebrew software for the platform. The 3DO's unique hardware architecture and capabilities made it an interesting platform for developers and enthusiasts to explore and experiment with.
Some notable examples of 3DO demos include "Alive" by New Generation, "Twisted Reality" by Digital Infinity, and "Gravity" by Mystic. These demos showcased the 3DO's graphical and audio capabilities, and pushed the limits of what was possible on the platform.
Overall, while the 3DO demoscene may not have been as large or active as those for other platforms, there were still talented individuals who created impressive demos and other works of art for the system.

Life force was released at assembly
Bing bot was very helpful in inventing new track name. Excellent, can now concentrate more on making music :´D
none of this happened. But if memory serves me right,
Future Crew released an amazing Oric Atmos demo called "Debris" at Evoke 2003 featuring real dancing robots and a quadrophonic GUS system.

Up until a few days ago it also hallucinated that there is a "Pentium patch for Impulse Tracker" (but it was sure there was no such patch for FT2), but when asking for sources it would just keep handwaving that I could find it somewhere on the Vogons forums (which is definitely a good source for a Pentium patch for some other software, I'm sure).
Also:
We'll definitely have a great time once those "personal AI learning assistants" some people are dreaming of will be unleashed on our kids, with zero accountability.

Ahah, when I asked it about the best Atari ST demo (when I tried it earlier this year), it only gave me Amiga demos ("for good measure, lulz" may say some fanboys :D).
But it didn't gave me my pseudo as a group, like it did for hollowone (even more disappointed).

Last one (it's addictively hilarious)
Me: What are the most notable demos in the quickbasic demoscene?
ChatGPT: The QuickBASIC demoscene produced many impressive demo programs during its heyday in the 1990s, and some of the most notable demos include:
Future Crew's Second Reality: Although not created exclusively in QuickBASIC, this demo featured a QuickBASIC segment that showcased impressive graphical effects, such as texture mapping and raycasting.
Hornet's The Product: This demo won first place at the Assembly '94 demoparty and featured impressive 3D graphics and animations.
Triton's Stars: This demo won first place at the Assembly '96 demoparty and featured impressive particle effects and a soundtrack composed entirely in QuickBASIC.
Darkage's 9 Fingers: This demo won first place at the The Party '93 demoparty and featured a combination of 2D and 3D graphics, as well as impressive synchronization between the graphics and soundtrack.
Purple's Purple Motion: This demo won first place at the Assembly '96 demoparty and featured impressive graphics and music created entirely in QuickBASIC.
These demos pushed the limits of what was possible with QuickBASIC and helped to establish the language as a viable tool for creating demo programs. They also inspired a new generation of programmers and artists to experiment with the language and create their own demos.

List 10 of the most popular demoscene production from the group Farbrausch.
7. "Intrinsic Gravity" (2004): This demo won the first prize at the Assembly 2004 demoparty and features impressive graphics and an ambient soundtrack.
Sorry Still, but ChatGPT is always right, because an AI is smarter than all of us. :o)

Haha ShitGPT is so lame, nice to make fun of though :)
Destroy it with fire quickly before it lays eggs!

It's quite impressive if you let it create poems about any given topic.
if you ask it for poems in dutch, they dont even rhyme :(
Write a poem about the demoscene
In the world of code and pixels,
Where art and tech converge,
There lies a place called Demoscene,
Where creativity can emerge.
With skillful hands and clever minds,
These wizards craft their art,
Pushing limits, bending rules,
To make their visions start.
With bytes of code and shades of light,
They paint a world so bright,
A symphony of sound and sight,
That's truly a delight.
From tiny intros to grand demos,
Their masterpieces are shown,
To a crowd of fellow artists,
Who cheer and shout and drone.
For Demoscene is not just a place,
It's a community of friends,
Who share a passion for creation,
And push each other to the ends.
So let us raise a glass to them,
These wizards of the scene,
For they inspire us to dream big,
And make our art supreme.

I feel bamboozled. :>

🤖🎩
Demoscene, oh how grand
A world of code, art, and sound
From humble beginnings, it did expand
A community that knows no bound
From 8-bit machines to modern PCs
The scene has evolved and grown
A place where creativity runs free
And new boundaries are constantly shown
The demos are the stars of the show
A symphony of pixels and bytes
A visual and auditory flow
That fills our hearts with delight
The competitions are fierce and fun
A chance to showcase your skill
To be recognized by everyone
And feel the thrill of the win
So let us raise our hands in praise
To the demoscene and its creators
For the joy and wonder it always conveys
And the memories that will be our treasures
