RIP Vangelis :'(

I know it is not directly demoscene related, but Greek composer Vangelis Papathanassiou died today at the age of 79. He was one of the greatest and most talented Greek composers, mostly self-taught, with his work raising generations around the world. His work includes the soundtrack of the original Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire, two amazing movies of their time and many other great scores. May he rest in peace and his work inspire the generation to come!

RIP Vangelis.
His music certainly influenced many of us who were around during the early demoscene. Trying to get my computer to produce synthesizer music like Vangelis' was certainly one of my motivations in learning about digital sound, and making fast soundtracker replay code on the Atari ST which eventually lead to my first job...

He'll be sorely missed, but what an influence he became.

Somehow he was involved in Agenda Circling Forth which IMHO is one of the best demos of all time.
