Tokyo Demo Fest 2021
category: parties [glöplog]
Hello everyone,
After a bit of a hiatus, Tokyo Demo Fest is back, ready to deliver a new Japanese cool demoshock to your brain.
What can you expect this time?
First, the obvious: this is going to be an online demoparty.
That means even if you don't live in Asia, there is no expensive flight ticket preventing you from attending. And with the time-zone difference, attending will put your head upside down just as much as a if you were having the full on site experience. So we very much hope to see you.
We're going to have similar compos as the previous years: the usual and expected demo, music, graphics and wild, but also the GLSL Compo which has proven popular in the previous editions, and Shader Showdown with some of the favourite Japanese shader magicians.
Aside from compos, a few seminars, a DJ+VJ set and a demoshow are planned, and we're counting on you for the unplanned fun to top it all.
The organising team has been working around the clock to make it a great experience. The stream has been tested, the invitation has been released, the T-shirt design is almost ready, the website is ready, the timetable is almost complete, the registrations are open.
But wait, there's more.
For those of you who haven't noticed, for the past few years there have been forces at work to push the presence of the demoscene in the SIGGRAPH computer graphics conferences, especially so at SIGGRAPH Asia. That's what happens when there are sceners among conference organisers...
This year Tokyo Demo Fest 2021 is a co-located event with SIGGRAPH Asia 2021.
What does that mean? They will happen back to back: TDF on Saturday and Sunday, then SA from Tuesday to Friday. Then a demoscene session will happen at SIGGRAPH Asia, with some of the released productions shown there.
TL;DR bullet points:
Spread the word. <3

Cool! \o/
But why so early deadlines?
But why so early deadlines?
That leaves us a week to prepare the recording of the competition blocks, which would be otherwise very difficult to complete especially considering a typical work week in Japan.
As usual a pretty neat invitation intro. Greetings to Japan.
