What does Demosceners thinking about NFT?

From my point of view is the same as buying an MP3, when the MP3 is avaible for free.
Except that with an MP3, you actually get a copy of the artwork you paid for, you can listen to it forever on any device. In contrast:

But it's still paying premium for a URL with no actual ownership.
I hate the concept of NFTs with every fibre of my being.
I'm so happy we seem to be all on the same page here! haha.

Yes, and I could not describe my own feelings any better than this quote.

everyone's talk is "did you sold your dogecoin now it's 10x times more? Did you make some fast buck?".
So true! In crypto the money that goes in, is the money that goes out, no money is being generated, is a zero sum game, many people don't seem to realise that :(

NFTs are a reflection of just how completely fucked digital artists have been up to this point.
Yap.
I always loved computer graphics, music, the demoscene, but I have never worked in the industry. My prespective as an outsider, is the ideia with examples like this https://www.polygon.com/2018/10/27/18029154/red-dead-redemption-2-working-conditions-rockstar-games-overtime-labor
So I probably made a good choice...

Wohoo, sure that such religious fervor is justified? That got me interested, thanks.
Bifat is interested? Damn, must be even worse than I thought.
I am teh evil! Yea I always thought this was some Ethereum folly, and totally besides the point of cryptos.
I thought that a libertarian money grab and a ponzi scheme are exactly the point of cryptos.
Shows what you know!
NFTs... I mean... what could possibly go wrong?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVvguuVA4fU Right? LOL
Wait, how didn't I know that Malcolm In The Middle episode yet
All that may be so, but testing it at least once won't hurt anybody.
I quite like the idea of collectible "art", and the size limitations it comes with it (for example, < 40 mbytes mpeged).
I've made a concept sequence of a few coded vigniettes with exactly the same size (~ 10 secs) that tile perfectly (graphics and music) between them in random order; with some abstract common theme. (a bit like the "intel compos" with a given theme, size and music).
May test the waters one day soon. Maybe misguided. I'll wait and see...

A site that is hyper-critical of NFT reports that "minting" a NFT has a carbon dioxide footprint of a 1000km travel by car. Hmmm would we really want to be "hated" with the same fervor for travelling to demoparties, and making demos on bigbox PCs in the first place? I mean, first they come for your NFTs, and I thought fine, I don't have NFTs. Then they come for your bigbox PC, and I thought fine, ...
I'm sure you know this already, but:
Being against NFT and crypto scam != wanting to ban your obsolete computer.

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with NFT. The NFT is the receipt of a reference of that clip that is somewhere in a blockchain and means fuck all.
It;s techy garbage that means nothing and desperate and greedy people cling to.
In any case, it will be interesting to see whether/when it will be revealed as the emperor's new clothes that it really is. And what will happen in-between.
It already crashed a while ago. It's literally nothing.

I guess it all depends on the amount of edgelord cool-aid one has drunk.
bbut the nice guy on the youtube says it is like Bezos in the 90s
BTW, does anyone have a clue about how it works on the legal side? I mean, maybe I'm the first guy to put some picture in the blockchain and generate a NFT for it, doesn't mean I'm the author or genuine legal owner of it. I could have NFT'ed a copy already.
the annual wasted electricity from unplugged iPhone chargers and TVs etc on standby in the US alone could charge the entire cryptocurrency industry for 1.5 years. and that's truly wasted energy for _absolutely nothing_. just to see it in some perspective regarding the whole 'bad for the environment'-thing. not to mention your non-triple-A mini fridge you keep in the shed for cool beers in the summer! :P

I somehow doubt that. Do you have a link to read up on it?
I first thought of a new mysterious near-field technique. Ok this new hype thingy. I think, it is not safe.
