A lot of "unpopular opinions" and similar social media engagement solicitation formats encourage unproductive discourse and formation of in-groups & out-groups, and create further unhealthy frictions within a community suffering from a lot of internal tensions to begin with.

usually the scene can quite seldom distinguish between "I am used to that" vs. "this is somehow good".

Being able to express emotions and showing vulnerability is part of the skillset. There is no glory in a one man show if you never learned to collaborate and listen.

Oh boy.

The whole tech-focused visual style of demos is boring, derivative and artistically dull. A bunch of random scenes without coherence to tie them together and a high concept is dull, no matter the production values.

The demoscene as a whole still has a whole lot of reckoning to do with its attitude towards women and minorities.

Demos that are far below average and/or bad are often a lot more interesting and fun to watch than mid-tier ones.

A lot of demos, especially on oldschool machines, repeat the same boring effects with the same boring implementations and the same boring clichés.

Many of the groups still surviving from the early days of the demoscene should do the graceful thing and bow out, or then get on with the times.

Oh, and my favorite: The scene being a safe space for you doesn't give you a free pass to be an asshole. There is no obligation for everyone else to silently tolerate toxic behaviour.

Demoscene was cool and thriving in software rendering era.. now it's indeed all about "creative" use of 3rd party engines and notch-like tools.. hence most demos nowadays are quite generic and boring... i only visit pouet for 256b and 8k and animation actually but I'm too lazy (or too busy) to do sizecode something myself... why 8k? you cannot do anything new in 4k anymore and 64k is way too much.. also smash is wrong, nobody cares about creative use of his outdated fluid physics, don't listen to him :P

And speaking of artistic freedom... I would rather prefer demoscene to evolve towards high-quality abstract CGI videos with high-quality music. There are plenty of impressive CGI short films out there, but not too so many effect-oriented abstract animations... go figure how cool effects you could accomplish pushing 1T particles on screen or so. It would be pretty much your "demoish videos" topic taken to next level.

What's nörttipäteminen in English. I'm tired of it. Didn't everyone already get to prove their intelligence and high cognitive performance in school. Yeah yeah you know math and foreign languages and blah blah. Don't make mistakes in public, unless as an ironic post-modern joke! Meh.
