A strange occurence at pouet.net
category: general [glöplog]
> Scene.org awards (ran for 10 years): 46 entries in alltime top (64 prods list).
> Meteoriks awards (running for 6 years): 3 entries in alltime top (64 prods list).
> No awards (mostly from a time were no awards existed): 14 entries in alltime top (64 prods list).
Is the amount of pouet users decreasing over the years, so less voting for new(er) prods occur ?
Does the technical and artistical level of prods have decreased in recent years ?
Is pouet.net a spent force ? (you can quote me on that).
Or are users simply not giving a shit any more ?
Am i asking too many questions ?

That.
I'll be posting stats about the first/last 20 years of Pouet soon.
^Interesting! Perhaps from now on a yearly update? Analysis, trends, figures, now that's management.
Doing some acrobatics with the average score à la CSDb (such as listing by weighted average score for all prods with 100 votes or more) could perhaps breathe some life into the all time top but I guess even then it'd remain pretty static over time. Personally, I've just hidden it. Top of the month is a great feature and I find it much more interesting. Found some real gems using it!
same
still, wish there was more traffic, comments and thumbs on recently released prods

I think that's the hard truth.
As I said in another topic. Time goes by. Scenerers become/became parents or have new hobbies and other interests. They are no longer interested in the demoscene, I would guess.
I remember we said "scene is dead" 14 years ago in the onliner. It's not dead yet, but it's going to die out for sure.
well yeah, eventually the planet is going to get swallowed by the sun
It's just that people care less about votes - same thing happening at csdb. There are a few extremely active votes, and a few who are extremely interested in what people vote. The rest... meh. even compos dont get voted for much - even those who get lots of contributions.
We need more Chartmags!

Even more interesting: 46 + 3 + 14 = 63! A Mystery!
There's also the detail that the alltime top list prefers prods that was added earlier, who has more time to collect votes.

PDCA.
Should be. But, no. It's not there.
