I still can't believe what I'm reading here. I'm sad and shocked :( Syd was such a nice guy, down to earth, talented and obviously a loving and caring father and husband. Why is this happening.. Condolences to his family, relatives and close friends.

Incredibly sad to hear he's gone. I didn't know him personally more than meeting him at various demoparties at most, but of course I'm familiar with his music through SceneSat and the many music competitions.

RIP Ultrasyd. He helped rebuild Genesis Project back in 2010-11. :'( Such a nice guy. I send my sincere condoleances to his friends and family. His music will live on. You will be remembered, Sydney.

Wondered also why there is suddenly photo of completely other fella in interview, while Syd in two other photos. How do you do that?

It was the wish of Ultrasyd to have this photo included. He send this photo himself to Parsec who did the interview back in 2014. Inside Hugi#38 there is a photo discription. On the website there is the same photo discription now to: "Portrait Akira at Eindbaas by Ultrasyd"
Parsec explained to me yesterday:
"Well it's one of Sydney's potraits, to show something about his photography skills.
so it was like:
- We need a photo to show about his interest in photography
- He sent this beautiful potrait
- We can't use that. We'd need the model's permission
- She's his wife Eva
- It's too erotic anyway
- Too erotic? This is a diskmag for demoscener, you're aware of this, yes?
- Yes, it might hurt the delicate sensitivity of demosceners who are all notoriously biggots and god-fearing christians.
- Uh.... ok?... I'll ask him for a different pic
Sydney selected that one as one of the "potraits" he has made and that he liked... and not only for the potrait but also to show a bit of his connection to the scene of 8 bit music
So when asked about a photo good enough to show what his photography skills are like, he thought of that one. Sydney sent the Akira photo himself 🙂 Apparently it was one of the potraits he liked. I guess Akira will be glad to know that Sydney used to like that photo specifically."
