But you aren't located that close. How about cross livestreaming eachother's compos?
@Dresdenboy:
It's a great and noble idea, until one of the partys experience delays, which - as we all know - never happens on a demoparty, and in that case everything kinda falls apart. :P Plus you need twice the time then, right in the timeframe when there's the most stress as an orga, and your timetable is the tightest. So it's impractical at best.

Well, that's unfortunate. Last time I checked though, there was no party announced yet for October.
Regarding streaming, it could actually work out this time, at least in one direction: Inércia could be showing the Deadline compos on Saturday and hold the local compos on Sunday, since Inércia would last until Monday. Of course this would require a reliable internet connection at Inércia... and preferably also 3D glasses :)
Sweet, will be there :)
Sooooo InérciaDemoparty2005... I mean 2020 was announced on a great invitation release this year - great as in compofiller great - which was a good 2 weeks before. Still, who cares? It's like we're not really making any kind of competition with foreign parties anyway.
I do like Spenot's suggestion: we could stream Deadline's compos and yes, inércia compos will be on Sunday, just as all the german visitors of Deadline are arriving home, hungover like always. So that's settled.
And in case you're going to shout "just move the date!" I will politely ask you shut the fuck up, as October 5th is a holiday over here and it's monday, so it's handy.
Anyway.... good luck to Deadline organizers, see you soon(ish)!

that is multiple layers of good stuff, jeenio.
should work as ecspected.

In Germany there's our national holiday always at the 3rd of October and since 7 years now Deadline is always around that date - still I'm glad that we seem to not get in the way of each other much - we didn't had loads of Portuguese sceners visiting Deadline so far - I guess it's the same way the other way around.
v3nom, you're 100% right. The closest we had was rob / aardbei, who's dutch. But then again, that's not the actual point.
The point is:
- would we be thrilled to have foreign visitors? Oh yes! We even organized this year's party in November, something we never did before, because of a foreigner request.
- do foreigners come? Well, we had Spenot, with whom I had great conversations and was quite a surprise to show up, but he was the only one... so, basically no.
I've been doing this for almost 20 years and somehow never got this to work. Portugal is probably too far away from the heart of Europe, and people never come here for the amazing demoparty experience. Having said that, we do have some portuguese sceners who deserve to be well treated and have a demoparty in their country. So, and I'm only speaking for myself and not the entire orga team, those portugese sceners are my focus now.
I just read the above and it sounds a bit like I'm angry. But I'm not, really. I live 6 years in the Netherlands, I've visited parties in Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, I really wanted to go to Deadline at some point, just like any other party I haven't gone to. Maybe next year, as October 5th won't be Monday again. Who knows? Anyway, we don't even compete with our neighbours of Spain, so why would we be doing it with you? heh

even if we moved inércia's date to november or whatever other month, the excuses would be the same as always and the likeliness of having foreign visitors slim, there are just too many other demoparties out there during the year, and most of them with a long standing reputation of being better organized, to compete against. so we'll be focusing on portuguese sceners who don't travel much and just have inércia on the most convenient dates for us. we'll livestream deadline's compos at the partyplace for sure, just like we did with syntax's this year. :) have fun in berlin! wish i could join you.
Yo, we're still contemplating in which form (if at all) we can make Deadline happen again.
There's currently an orga-survey running to get an opinion on different options, but there's also a Visitor Survey, to get your opinion as a potential visitor:
Please take 2 mins to give us your opinion! (we won't share individual answers)
We will collect answers in the next days and will keep you posted on our plans!
Stay safe, stay elite, stay alive!

IMHO the key aspect is getting the air inside constantly replaced. I know that a new ventilation system was installed, but not sure how powerful it is at maximum setting. Having the doors at the bar open at all times would probably also help, but of course that means it would get cold inside.
what is the result of the pool about the party? Give the personal answers as well.
Hallo?
Was!
ÖÖÖÖLWUAAAST!!!!
Good evening, everyone! Sorry for the delay: holiday, work stress and child at home etc.
First of all thanks for your participation in the survey, it really helped us to assess the interest. The good news is that even in the midst of a pandemic there's a lot of interest in having a demoparty and also a physical, real-live one, given a solid safety and hygiene concept. And also thanks to all the people offering help, you rock! <3
We met with the Orwohaus guys lately and looked at what would be possible and what would not. We could do a real-live event with limited guests (~80 visitors) while maintaining a proper concept to have everybody as safe as it gets.
The big question is whether under these circumstances the same demo party and deadline atmosphere we all got to love can be maintained and wether fun will not be missed out.
I believe we you could make it work and we have some ideas how a great party could be pulled off, for example:
* Hybrid-Event, on location + really cool stream with an additional mobile camera that walks around and allows interaction between streamers and party people
* Stream with (mobile) 360° camera
* Additional income through online-tickets (5-10€), for upload, voting etc
* Less dancing but more events on stage, e.g. shader showdown at DJ sets (like at other parties), demo shows e.g. with live commentary by the sceners / authors present, scene quiz
* More Fun-Compos on site
However, this means that if you want to make it really nice, it's a lot more work than usual, and time is running out. If we start doing something now, we could at max only do half of the ideas described above, and we would have to work with a very small budget (i.e. mainly private equipment)
Furthermore, as of now we could only do a minimal setup, because we don't have any sponsors for this year (30% of the income) and we can only expect 50% of the ticket and shirt income (-> again -35%), i.e. currently we have to calculate with a budget of 35% of our regular budget, which in all years was always already tight and more often in the red than not.
And what still remains is the residual risk of going down in scene history as the party where a Covid 19 superspreading event occurred - I'm not up for that either.
So instead of a half-baked event, we decided with a heavy heart to rather skip this year and make next year, 2021 all the better and ideally start preparing stuff now.
Pure online is nonsense in my opinion, there is already more of these events right now than needed. (Of course this is an individual opinion from myself, I'm sure there are people seing it completely different and that is fine. </disclaimer>)
There are still some parties happening around the same time, also in real live, there is function happening two weeks before from the 18th to the 20th in Hungary, and Inercia Demoparty, happening at the same time in Portugal.
Also in case you already booked your trip to Berlin and cannot/don't want to cancel it, please get in touch with us - we want to arrange a *small* meet-up, watching demos and drinking beer at least, to not have you stranded in Berlin ;)
I hope this makes sense for you and I'm sorry that it all took so long. Looking forward to see you all again soon! Stay Safe. <3

hah! can't wait until this corona shit is finally done. We will finish writing the prod I promised and release it next year! In person. With campfire. It's better that way! :)
Sorry to hear you've decided to cancel completely.
Inércia is in the process of deciding on physical / hybrid / online-only aswell.

Hopefully if Inercia goes online-only then I'm sure I can put something together. May have to use Garageband but there we go :)
as a (co) party orga i completely share your views.
