Hosting question for uploading an intro
category: general [glöplog]
Hi.
I've never uploaded an intro before.
I wish to upload a 32 byte intro for MS-DOS which I've made but not sure what hosting service should I use to not get into trouble with local policies...

scene.org
Sorry, but I don't see any kind of opportunity to get my intro in there without releasing it at a demoparty, and I've already missed CC =(
Untergrund is generally a decent go-to choice for most people.
(I'm aware how ironic that sounds considering that Untergrund is currently fucked.)
Considering that I only have one 32 byte intro to upload, hosting a site just for that seems overkill, and I'm not sure about what to enter in that "Detailed explanation" box - "I want to upload one 32 byte intro"? If that'll suffice, then fine, but I have my doubts...
Is that the entirety of your planned scene career? :)
When we blagged a hosting account from a friend of ours we didn't even have a demo, we just knew we would somewhere down the line, so it was futureproofing more than anything :)
But to offer a practical solution, you could open a Github repo for the intro where the repo itself contains the source for the intro (it's 32b so even a disasm dump would be fine) and the actual binary is uploaded as a release.

@Gargaj No =P, I want to make alot of stuff, but I probably have to learn some more math before I can make nice intros not by complete accident, therefore I can't be sure on when I'll make something suitable for release. And thanks for the solution, I'll check it out.
@TheMechanist So, from what I guess, I should use a FTP client to create a folder in demos/artists with my nickname and simply upload the .zip file in there considering I've already put an explanation|info txt file in the zip? Sorry for noobish questions, I've only ever dealt with FTP maybe two times in my consciousness, and both times a veeeeery long time ago.

if you just need a webspace i could also provide that. hit me up on ircnet if interested (and untergrund doesnt work or is too slow ;)
Since it is just 32b what about data urls? ;)
Or just release at the next party, e.g. Function or Deadline coming up next month.

jep, just fire filezilla up, anonymous ftp at ftp.scene.org, create a folder and upload the file .. your upload will be verified in about a week and if everything is fine it will show up on the server for download ...
tesseract: sorry, missed your query there.
