RIP Keith Flint - The Prodigy
category: offtopic [glöplog]
By now I expect you will all have heard the sad news coming from the UK today.
I'm pretty sure that he was an influence within the demoscene - particularly with earlier prods released back in the late 80s and early 90s that sampled from some of The Prodigy's earlier works, all in good faith, I guess.
I guess also their music influenced many current demoscene musicians as well.
Thoughts ?

Obvs. I wrote a Prodigy inspired track a few years ago that's unreleased and pretty bad ass. If anyone fancies making a tribute demo or something hit me up at pandasonics @at@ gangstermail .com
:(
gangstermail? :D
I'm gutted. The Prodigy were a huge influence on me around the mid-90's, and you can probably find echoes of their first three albums in almost everything I've done since, even if those echoes aren't always obvious at all.
What can I say. A true musical icon, up there with the very greatest. Rest in peace.

@keito: me and Nytrik might be
Such a big loss. He was one of the driving forces in my musical development into electronic music. Those first albums were decades ahead of their time. I tried for years to make stuff similar before I discovered freetekno. RIP.
If I can participate in any way I'm game if you fancy a co-up.

@Keito is it mod or mp3?
RIP Keith
obviously i also did a prodigy "megamix" XM in my early days, not released anywhere, just kindof mashing up 6-8 of their songs really badly. i may still have it somewhere, not sure.
mad props to the band, they were the much needed middle ground between rockers and ravers back in the 90's. i hope Liam will continue though, even if they kinda went with a pendulum-ish tone in the past 10 years, they still kept something from the old spirit in there.

A multicoop music disk could be possible I suppose, letting any musicians with their prodigy inspired tracks or remixes contribute, a kind of communal effort from the demoscene to pay all of our respects. Just thinking aloud now though.
@keito: yeah we're using an older track of yours now. Great one. Can we reconnect too btw? I won't nag you like the coked up version of myself 10 years back ;)

it's a good idea! :) don't count me in though..
if you need some graphics i been doing some #ddgart out of his photo
I still have few +20 year old remixes/mash-ups of Firestarter, Smack My Bitch Up etc. as Protracker modules in my HD, so if you need any tunes for the music disk I can provide some tracks. Also check out the mighty Prodigy tunes from Da Jormas, they did some serious stuff back in the days ;)
sad news indeed.
listening to the UKW frequencies on ma car radio!

His belongings are going up for auction this coming Thursday in Cambridge.
It's possible to bid online but registration is needed first.
Fortunately Cheffins are not the kind of company to spam people out with unwanted emails or so on in the future.

The link doesn't work.
he did hoard a load of random crap... "hmmmh, this katana will go well with that wooden statue of two pugs looking at the skull of an antelope... might as well buy that old pirate chest too! i can store my collection of hats in it!"
aww, he sure had a lot of bathing ape gear! Makes me kinda sad to see his stuff being auctioned away like this :/
Well... It is obvious you ain't take anything with you out there... So who cares... Really, who?
Lol, come on man! Don’t you want to own 36 flat caps that once belonged to Keith flint?
