Revision 2019 - April 19th to 22nd

@PotcFdk: I find it's usually best to get a taxi from the hotel in the morning around 10AM and get the bus back when I can't stand up any more. That gives me juuust enough time to sleep and breakfast. :)

You might want to revisit the rules for the Animation/Video compo, as it hasn't been updated since Breakpoint 2008 and it doesn't really hold up anymore nowadays.
The "Note:" part hasn't been true for years now and just confuses people. Also, it says a lot that Flash is among the accepted formats, while e.g. mkv isn't. I mean... can you actually still play flash on the compomachine? :)

Maximum resolution: 1920x1080 pixels (Note: If you choose to use this high resolution, please remember that not all machines are able to play 1920x1080/30Hz videos properly, and 60Hz usually requires a multithreaded codec and a high-end multicore processor. As a rule, best not hand in anything you can't play on your machine).

Now that we're talking about outdated compo rules:
Orgas, could you also please look into my questions from earlier?
(Although I hope it won't be 19.04)

Are non-PC platforms allowed for [the tiny intro] compo as well?
Also, the details on the Linux specs still state last year's "Ubuntu Desktop 17.10 64-bit", will this be changed to 18.04 or 18.10, or maybe even 19.04, scheduled to be released on April 18?
(Although I hope it won't be 19.04)
Ladies and gentlemen, bod speaking. On behalf of Revision Airways I want to introduce you to the music program for this year’s flight. You may now prepare for dancing.
Hello there, Can I ask that, how to submit the tracked music when the competitions starts?
For example is...
Amiga MOD's that I making a demo style music or a chiptune music, and I used the samples of Amiga ST-XX.
or S3M that I making a electronic dance music. and I used the samples of my favorite instruments from Korg M1, TR-909 Drums, and Chord sounds.

@Yomaru_Kasuga: You just need to upload your entry to the party intranet before the deadline.
A bit of a late answer, nevertheless I can answer your 256B related question.
Unfortunately not, the 256B intro compo is intentionally constrained to the currently most common platform for the type of intro.
There will be a reasonable answer to this question soon.

Alright, thanks.
Speaking of Tiny Intro:
With which (pixel) aspect ratio will Mode 13h entries be shown on the bigscreen?
With which (pixel) aspect ratio will Mode 13h entries be shown on the bigscreen?
That's a really good question: I think with DOSBox you can adjust the aspect ratio to your liking with a custom configuration. Otherwise we will use whatever is the default setting.
With 320x200 on FreeDOS things are slightly different: I would tend towards square pixels and 16:10. I'll consult the beam team and check what we can do. Most probably we will stick to exactly one setting there.
Any opposing preferences?

Hmm.
-> GTX Titan X Pascal with 3584 cores
Are you sure about that? No one interested running fancy stuff on Turing?

(and that also would require win10 1809, not 1709).

Well, rrrola's coordinate trick assumes 320x200 shown in a 4:3 aspect (which could be considered most authentic). But most likely others will have other preferences.
In any case, it would be good to know beforehand what the options are. I can understand if you don't want to switch aspect for every intro.
If something uses 13h don't upset the geeks and pretend it's anything other than 4:3 plz.
Who cares at the end of the day - just let it run on youtube :D
wertstahl: awesome shaders
As tiny intro aspect ratio my vote is 16:9. Nowdays everybody's monitor is 16:9. If you USB boot, or put your DOSBox to fullscreen you will get 16:9.
TomCat: 16:9 with unsquared pixels?!!
My 2 cents would be let the coders decide via DosBox-Config, self-provided! ;)
If coder decides to go with FreeDos, he decides to go 320*200, so make it 4:3 ! ;) Square pixels no matter what!

You are contradicting yourself. The exact point here is that 320x200 done properly doesn't have square pixels. Most people writing for DOSBox ignore that, and I still think that aspect=true should be part of the default DOSBox config. So many things look wrong with 320x200 and square pixels.
you simply have to code something that looks neato no matter what :D
Let's not even get started with correct aspect ratio of super high resolutions in Dosbox in which i am totally releasing a 256b intro for revision #Spoiler #Kappa

That the pixel is square or not... don't bother me. It depends on my goals. Look at this :) :) http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=80077
The intro has 256x768 res for 16:9 screen. 768 resY for smooth vertical scroll, and only 256 resX because of speed reasons.
@sensenstahl
Yes, aspect ratio doesn't really matter till you don't draw circles, spheres or equilateral triangles.
@Blueberry
Nice to see you are thinking of tiny intro. I hope you will surprise us with something :-)
Yes, using the coordinate trick is cheaper than division by linelen. But it doubles some pixel which could be uglier and it doesn't fit well for wide screen. That is why, I use division for the 1st effect, and the CCCD mul for the rest of effects in this intro: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=78048
@ɧคɾɗվ
If I go for FreeDOS (which I will at Revision) I'd like to see my intro in fullscreen on my monitor and on the biggest compo screen as well. (btw FreeDOS doesn't mean 13H mode only, you can use 640x480 on every computer).
The things are changed. I feel I should add some info to the classic tiny intro toolbox thread.
Do you have USB memory? Everybody has.
How long does it take to boot OS from your SSD? 5 secs.
this is the amount of time to find youself in a native DOS enviroment (or go back)
I make my intros for today and for the future... not for the past.
Now most of the the screens has 16:9 aspect ratio.
This is my opinion.
but 4:3 version of my intro is also finished already, so... :-)
