What is demoscene about, according to you?

Adok: Afaik this certain democoder was not banned because of his political views, but because of his behaviour he showed towards a lot of other sceners. Also he was actually the one always trying to impose his political views in demoscene contexts, much as you do actually.
Now you've done it.
How Marxists took over psychotherapy

the "wrong" political party
There is no "wrong" or "right" party. Every political party is flawed, even my own.
Also: what has politics to do with the essence of the demoscene?
Unless of course politics is an integral part of how one views the scene. I would consider that rather odd but hey, it is a free world.
Adok just has 3 favorite subjects he likes to talk about... and just derails threads long enough to hit one of the 3. go to a fucking pub with that pseudo-scientific banter!
adok if you feel like you're not up to it, i can offer you to call and make appointments in your name with a few therapists, so you can find one that's right for you. let me know
Adok: I would be more worried that your friends/professors will find out about all those conspiracy theory websites you have created rather than your secrete intro making endeavors ;)
Does anyone have any idea what this thread is supposed to be about?
Adok, come on now, you're linking to some tabloid article that evokes fears about a racist far-right conspiracy theory, with accompanying imagery to match, and conflating Marxism with Liberalism. Cool though that it gives a shoutout to a renowed Marxist academic Mark Fisher, though. Capitalist Realism is a great, quite poignant critique of culture under Capitalism.
So, as I was saying...
Yes, so demoscene, what is all about?
Marxism means: You work, work, work and get paid the minimum you need to survive. When you are old and exhausted, you get a neckshot, good bye, you lived long enough.
What I want is: You decide yourself how much you work. If you work more, you also get paid more. You are paid so much that you can save money after your expenses have been covered, so that you can invest this money in future endeavors. And you have plenty of sparetime to go to the theater, movies, eat at a fancy restaurant, go hiking, make trips to other places, etc.

this escalated from sentimental emotional poetry to bullshit. Adok, go back learning programming as writing ain't what can bring you good anymore.
Come to danish parties and get shot(s) too!
For me the demoscene is working on productions. I decide myself how much I work on productions. If I work more on a prod I also get higher rankings. I invest plenty of sparetime in making demos and.. wait this went wrong.
LOL

mccnex I thought I was having an argument with you but to be frank I have no idea what your point is anymore.
That's a second time already, mate ;-)
But seriously :)
First of all there's no any argument, coz I'm not here to fight. Also I believe we are pretty much on the same page.
Look. I wouldn't dare to call "capitalist pigs" a small business party sponsors like Mr. Kowalski's home based workshop crafting 50 Amiga IDE interfaces a month, giving 2 of them to orgas as prizes.
Ffs... Come on, let's not go into absurd. And btw I never said that, it was you, who took my words this way...
I used word big for companies like Asus, Ubisoft etc. being present here and there. And actually I don't mind such sponsorship. As a matter of fact it's a good thing they are interested in supporting the scene. What's wrong with that? Electricity, hiring party-place & equipment cost money... (and FYI - I know a little about this). Of course... it would be another story if some "clever" guy approached me and proposed granting the money for turning party's name into e.g. Microsoft's Super Party 2036 and other things like that. I would rather tell him to f*ck off than accept, you know...
So, to narrow it down a bit, I don't think the scene is so much non-capitalist like some of us wish. I realize that it sounds cool to declare like this but that's basically not true. There's no black and white here. I do believe there's always a "healthy" compromise between things, so everyone can have a room to breathe. Just common sense, nothing else...
Hope I made myself clear on this one.
R We cool, amigo? :)
I have some more thoughts on the topic but not much time to write it all down. Maybe later.
don't forget to come to Microsoft Inercia Party 2005!

I think you're conflating playing by the rules of the game with playing the game - of course the scene tries to skim off the top of capitalist companies, but that doesn't mean the idea of the scene in its core idea is inherently capitalistic.
it's the "...you criticize society.... and yet you are taking part in it??!??!!................" argument :)
