What was he most stupid reason why you missed a demoparty?

I missed Simulaatio 2015 because I had to take an exam for a mandatory university course that I hated for the 5th time (but I passed \o/).

Upon booking a longer vacation trip to a continent far far away, I didn't realize Easter was coming in in the same weeks...

Oh dear.... and now I remember that I missed Breakpoint one year because I forgot my passport and only realised on the train to the airport. That was pretty stupid. Thanks for making me remember :(

Booking non-refundable train tickets for the wrong weekend when I was a teenager with very little pocket money.

Had tickets to go to the party '99, together with my little Bro, wanted to introduce him to the scene. Then the Flu struck me like a lightning. He and his Schoolbuddy went. I stayed at home sick with high fever. But i was told it was quite an impressive Party.

I'm guessing that's an English tradition.

Evoke, Under Construction, Outline and Nova are all relatively close to my place, but they all also happen during an 'exam season' as well \o/

I once (more than ten years ago) wanted to go to Buenzli but I missed my plane! The plane was supposed to be going from Bratislava. I was supposed to take a bus from a location in Vienna that would bring me to Bratislava airport. But, me and my parents were not aware of that location, and when we finally found out, it was *just a couple of seconds* too late. We then chased the bus, and my mother made an effort to get the bus driver's attention so that he would stop, but it did not work out. So I had to stay in Vienna and attend AniNite, an anime/manga convention, instead...

Solskogen'16: Was about to board ferry in few hours but ended up to hospital instead. Watched the compo live stream in the same room with a comatose patient.

Yes, it is a stupid reason not to attend. You should definitely go to some demoparty! :)

never missed a demo party for a stupid reason. I did miss TRSAC last year due to very special and sad reason but I didn't miss the even miss TRSAC that time I took the wrong passport to the airport!!! (long story.. it's on here somewhere, thanks Poo-Brain :) )

"Stupid" is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure a lot of people would consider "not interested" to be a stupid reason.

After writing this i just realized that it is not stupid reason btw..

Missed Assembly '97 (had music done etc.) because of my military service and in the end I was too lazy to apply for a vacation. And because of that, I eventually lost my most interest for parties and the scene. My next Assembly was as late as in 2014, although before that I kept checking from time to time what was happening with the scene.

Asia, Australia, North America and South America also have parties so you might have some cheaper options than Europe. Also you can organize a party! :)

Twice, both times because I was recovering from lung surgery.

Nah, it's also a bit expensive for me... and unacceptable because of school and parents (lol).

I missed half of FieldFX because I got distracted inside a maze of cyberpunk shipping containers

My parents didn't allow me to go to Assembly 92 and the Hurricane Summer Party because of my age. At least I didn't miss anything special with the latter :P

I will be missing Gerp and the first ever AMOS Pro showdown in a few days because of a ski trip. The stupid thing is that it was a deliberate (although hard) choice. :)
