Just exploited his Nintendo Switch this summer, and talked a lot about homebrew and scene releases on it all fall... such is life.

Can't even begin to count how many times he bummed a puff on a joint to get even more fucked up. Good times. He was definitely a definitive piece of the old guard of the original Finnish demoscene and a colorful chaotic element at any party.

Greets to Accession and rest in peace DDT.

Goodbye you absolute legend. I just thought back to all the crazy DDT stories I have and heard, and even those barely scratch the surface.

Condolences for your loss, Stoneman.

Such terrible news. I grew up reading and hearing about his scary reputation and party antics in the start of the 90s. Much later when I actually met Lennu, he turned out to be a nice guy and such a fun character to hang out with at parties. Not to mention super helpful with the Amiga scene archiving business.

Just recently he briefly visited Berlin, but I missed my change to meet up. Had no idea it would be the last :( Rest in peace, one of the biggest legends of the Finnish scene.

RIP.

Lennu wasn't an easy person, but his chaotic behavior and weird stories were something that belonged to a Finnish demoparty.

Here is one of those stories:
Long time ago at Icons demoparty there was a drink ticket system - organizers didn't sell beer directly, but instead sold you tickets which were exchanged to beer and stuff at another counter. DDT of course went and bought most of the drink tickets and passed out. Therefor party place ran out of beer even though there was fridge full of it next to us. I might have gotten somewhat pissed and been too drunk, so I changed folder names on Lennus Mac to "fuckings_to_lennu" or something stupid like that. Surprisingly the end result was that DDT had Mac that required fresh install or so next day and he was very very pissed.

Later next week he threatened to beat the shit out of whoever broke his Mac. I had no doubt Lennu would actually carry out his threats so I needed to figure out a way to come clean without getting beaten up. I called Lennu without introducing myself from number he didn't have and the conversation was something like this:
-War or peace?
-Who the hell is this?
-War or peace, simple question?
-Eh, Peace, I guess.
-Ok, this is Sauli, I broke your Mac.
-...
-How about I buy you a sixpack of beer and we are even?
-... Ok
-Hey, I also need a ride to Simulaatio and I heard you have free seats?
...

And next time we arrived to demoparty some people were kind of expecting me to get beaten up by Lennu or having some sort of drama, but instead we arrived with the same car :)

Ah, good times.

Oh man...this is so sad.
During all the many years at easterparties, I shared so many funny moments with him.
Even when he was slightly over the edge, he was always a nice guy.
Okay..he was smart - when he ranted at me he does it in loud-finnish, but that was a totally fair deal. :-)

I remember good talks at revision too.
DDT is for me an unique, legendary scener, who will truly be missed.

My thoughts are with the Accession family.

When I started my demoscene career, there were couple of people I should thank about the big direction change in my life - that was in 1988. That direction led eventually to Assembly and all the awesome things the event has created, like fuelling the Finnish game industry and providing experiences for the gamers, sceners and enthusiasts, impacting the lives of many many people. For me personally, the demoscene and Assembly has made a huge impact. It redefined who I was and gave a lot of super awesome people to my life.

Now one of my early influencers is no more. Last life spent. The power switch of the Amiga has been put to "0" position for good. Rest in peace Lennu aka DDT / Accession.

We had known each other for 30+ years, had fun and sometimes not so fun (you stole the damn PC in Assembly!). But we had always a good relationship and the work you did behind the scenes for the Finnish demoscene was many ways meaningful, especially in the early days.

Bon Voyage, my friend.
