nature events demos
category: general [glöplog]
Is there any demo out there that simulates nature? I mean... the sea (real one not ripples) . storms . etc?
I'm sure people will flood this with numerous nature demos, but I'd like to direct attention to the only obvious answer
now. that demo. how does it answer my question? Besides I thought demo as code was obsolete since state of the art. I don't know why people think is a good idea to concept a demo that looks like tomb raider or some other game of that sort. It's basically totally boring. ... still looking for real nature effects in a demo.
kind of nice water effect in this one. http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13642
hmm, this one has a nice calm seaview at the end : http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3859
And ofcourse there is the benchmark from futuremark.
the last 2 had some pretty impressive effects

It doesn't. Just wanted to get the obvious quip out of the way.
i guess you're looking for federation against nature demos : )))
This one: http://multimedialab.elis.ugent.be/h2ocean/ has pretty impressive ocean waves simulator, as well of lots of underwater stuff.
Lame me, didn't get nice url hyperlink :(
this prod allows you to play a game of survival: [url]http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=9466[url]
Can you find enough fresh water, bury your friends and jump further surprises?`In the end there's a boss level where you have to try to unite groups of rebels to cooperate in the general undertaking at hand.

http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=9466 is the correct link. And the prod emulates some nature stuff, of course.
btw for a specific nature event which is boob growth, check http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13033 :D
Now.. that's some sea surface on that h2ocean demo... anyway it runs very slow on my machine.
What did you expected? Japan has the earth simulator and they couldn't foresee that catastrophe. You wanted nature simulation (the sea (real one not ripples)) and that needs CPU power. ;)
I know it needs CPU power... my machine is quite powered but that demo still runs very slow. I think the guy put too many vertex in it. Anyway ... any other demo with that kind of realistic sea surface around?
banal and off-topic answer but i think it's pretty hard to find a demo that beats the game Far Cry made by the germans at Crytek concerning sea (and green nature) rendering.
btw the Cry Engine had been first planned as a techical demo before turning into a game.
null: I think you need a good video card for that h2ocean demo as well. Yes, it's pretty slow still, but at least it's far better "ocean waves" than farcry :)
i have an nvidia fx 5600 or something. I'll check the h2ocean back in 2 years
