Shader Superfights Grand Prix 2019: we're looking!
category: general [glöplog]
FB: https://www.facebook.com/shadergp2019/
It is a bracket-knockout-system style competition to be held over the entire year of 2019. Our focus for the first edition is coders who have been around a bit longer and generally don't feel like it, for a variety of reasons.
Currently it is an 8-man bracket, but we are looking to expand it to 10 and have alternates. So feel free to contact us.
Rounds will be held and planned so that all participants can be there (in some cases, such as the quarterfinals especially, through remote). Focus will be on production value and fun - the rules will be different from the Shader Showdown in that more tools/tool code will be readily available.
I have a few plans on how to set this up, but as the FB page suggests, there are still a lot of question marks to be filled in. The only way to make this work with a predefined bracket is taking an entire year, and more than half a year to plan the quarterfinals.
People taking part so far (with some being very hesitant, some happy, some scared, some confident): KB/FR, Smash/FLT, Alkama/TPOLM, Pan/SK, Zden/Satori, Sh0ck, Jare/Iguana & Superplek/BPS.
Bracket as it is now (no gaurantee it will stay that way, we have to work with agendas, dropping out, new competitors..):
I will gladly switch to be an alternate if more competitors jump in (who wants to see me, right?). This should be a show first and foremost and I'm borrowing all elements from competitive events to build that experience.
At the end of 2019 I hope it will have resulted in a few very interesting matches you'd otherwise will never have seen and a fun and extravagant final.
I have an idea for the quarterfinals that would be easy on everyone's schedule, but after that, if we can get some time at parties and line it up, let me know.
Yours sincerely (and for a change I really mean that),
- Niels

it sounds interesting. Would like to watch it. I think I need a bit more specifics about when / where the matches will take place, if I'm going to be super excited though.
Will you stream on Twitch?
Will you stream on Twitch?
ah, its on facebook. well thats that then.
Awesome! I'll be there. The whole concept of it is rather epic. There wil lbe a round at Outline too right? Let us know how and when it will evolve, I'll gladly travel to Copenhagen to watch KB vs Smash :) If you need a hand at any time just shout, I did help build the setup quite some times already.
How do we place the bets?
Is it for real though?
10EUR on KB, 10EUR on Superplek.

I’ll make it happen. Look I’m no Facebook fan myself - and yes it is for real - I will write a solid post here. Still looking for competitors!
And don’t take that odds joke too seriously :)

Oh and I’m on the go now - so tonight I’ll outline the plans a bit more clearly here. Doing my best!
