Nice. That's not bad at all (opening a d3d9 device just to render text, read out to memory and create the dx11 texture isn't that cheap either). I did more or less all the ways some years ago, but i think this dx11-gdi interop came with win 8.1 which couldn't be required back then.
You have the advantage that dx11 with d3dcompiler_47.dll is part of vanilla windows 8.1 upwards. Imho that's the way to go (intro runs on every PC without missing the dx dll hell). This has also been encouraged by the compo organizes for years now. I think it's good that d3dx is now gone from the compo PC, since this increases intro compatibility in general.
