Revision 2018 : My first demoparty ever. Any advices ?

It's a dream coming true :) I 'll go to revision !!!
I have been following the scene for like 17 years now , I have also written a lot of crappy code trying to make it look like demos alone in my corner , but everybody in my surrounding look at me weirdly when they ask "oh what are you doing or what's a demo" ?
So what could you tell me?...Sorry maybe I got stupid questions.
For example I might bring my PC (I am not sure whether I ll have something to submit but please let me dream!)... are new comer allowed to bring their stuff? (it takes space and all...shall i negotiate my wife laptop instead
Do people have special places etc ?

Of course everyone can bring their PC, no matter how 1337 they are. However, since Revision is a large event with limited space, you are of course asked to use space econimically; don't bring three 30" screens if a single smaller one also suffices, etc. ;)
There will be a newbie table who haven't been to a demoparty before, which should help with getting to know people and not feeling alone, but you are not required to sit there. In genreal people who know each other tend to sit together of course, but there is no such thing as seat reservations or special places for the elite.

Yes, you can totally bring your PC. And/or your Amiga. People bring all kinds of weird hardware.
There are no reserved seats, just set your stuff up wherever. However, there is a special newcomer table where people might come by and give you productive tips!
Alternatively, some people will advocate that you should just spend the entire party getting horribly drunk. But please don't be one of those. Finish entry, submit entry, *then* get horribly drunk. :)

This! So much this! If it's your first party ever it might feel hella intimidating, but people are super friendly, especially if it's your first time at a party! Don't be afraid to approach people that seem to have a good time!
The newbie table is good and cool especially if you bring a PC and there is also a newbie seminar that can give you some grounding.

I'll second that - you won't have time to even turn your computer on if caught in the social whirlwind. Campfire is usually cool place to start 24/7 - grumpy Finns seems to disappear mid-day to revitalise before one more mortal booze session in the evening.
The tent outtside to the right is usually fullfilled with socializing people - just pop in, say hi and the rest would be history.
I wouldn't recommend starting your social tour at Polish corner at the front row to the right of big screen. Your kidneys might not catch up with the pace :)

I always suggest popping by to IRC to make a few connections first, that way you can talk a bit to people you will meet before meeting them in person.
Hey shantee, make sure to pop at our table, I'll offer you a drink. Find a table with French people, and ask for where Ctrl-Alt-Test are sitting. :)
don't forget to bring winter clothes!

Oh I sure will ! The most important to me is to "live the experience", fight shyness and socialize , maybe make some friends etc.. I have absolutely no intention to spend my first party in front of my screen since that's what I have been doing that for quite some time now remotely.to release But on the other hand without my PC and even without nothing much to release I 'll feel like going to a fancy dress party with no disguise :)

Yep, demoparties are a brilliant place to socialise and meet new people. But that's definitely not the only way to enjoy them, and if you're the sort of person for whom "go out and talk to people" is an ordeal rather than an invitation, that's cool too. I'd hate anyone to feel like they'd failed at demopartying because they didn't achieve the required quota of Talking To Random Hairy Finns.
Go play some pinball. Go sit in the corner of the stage seating area and nod your head to the beat with your eyes closed. And if (when?) the atmosphere inspires you to sit at your computer and create something, go ahead and do it without feeling guilty about missing out on socialising time.
(Besides, getting your work up on the bigscreen makes a great conversation starter.)

You dont need to bring your full gear or anything but having a laptop or some other device you can "retreat to" and recover yourself online or with playing a game might be a good idea if you are one of those who feel exhausted after a fair share of socializing and introducing yourself (like me, for example).
Regarding a release: Demoparties live of them and active sceners long for competition so of course they will constantly try to push you to do something and release it. Thats not a bad thing and if you have something you want to show its also a great motivator but dont think it is _expected_ of you (or any other visitor) to release something and you are frowned upon if you do not.
Dont pressure yourself, just have a great experience.

2.) get super-drunk (to fight own introvertion and anxiousness)
3.) have the best party-experience(s) in your entire life
4.) forget about all that happened at 3.) immediately the next day (thanx to alcohol)
5.) goto 2.) for amount of days the party lasts
6.) have some after-party-depression (while trying to remember what exactly happened that makes you so sad it´s over!)

Doing this also prevents super embarrassing moments in the compo studio.
Some brainstorming:
- Bring enough cash for irrational geek purchases.
- The good thing about revision is, that you can buy everything you forgot on saturday at the mall next to the party place.
- Sleeping at demo parties can be annoying and exhausting if you are not used to it. But on the other hand, if you sleep at a hotel, as many sceners do (like myself), you will miss a lot of the party.
- Don't "tilt" the pinball machines.
- don't drive with summer tyres to the party
- go at least to one seminar
- be a fan of the demoscene and vote for the productions

I regret not doing the Newcomer Mentoring Program the first time I went to revision so I would suggest that.
