Just for the sake of clearing things up, I thought this still isn't okay unless at least one person at the party participated?
At least, I remember at Breakpoint there being some fuss about someone handing in a music for someone that wasn't at the party.
Handing in music for someone who is not at the party is a total dickmove any way you look at it. IMHO it should only be allowed after the person handing in the song for his/her friend has listened to all the songs that didn't make it through preselection :)

That is correct, however you can do a Simon Cowell and simply play one note of cowbell or triangle to get the credit in there.

Pro-tip: if you must do this, try to keep track of who you assigned to be your Totally Real Collaborator. It's a bit of a giveaway when the same entry gets submitted by two different people each claiming to be the co-author. *cough*
