Btw, It would be nice if the Global Ilumination seminar had slides.

Lots of 4k. I was expecting more DEMOS.
Still awesome though. I just wish the G.I. Seminar had slides.
BTW that was that Fairlight demo they played on Friday ?

my 2nd evoke and damn - 500% better than the 1st one! :)
That was awesome! And I manged to make a demo a the partyplace, even while my air matress died on me the first night. Which kind of sucked. Besides this it was superb. So many visitors, wow!
SO MUCH LOVE! ❤️
What an awesome party, so many people! So many even that I didn't get to talk to everyone I wanted to catch up with. The vibe was incredible! So positive and creative! Can't express how happy the compos made me yesterday.
To 20 more years!!! 🍻

It was fantastic. Every year better! Evoke is so cozy.
Sorry that we bombed the mp3/ogg compo with that many fun 80s tracks, but well, not so sorry coz it was still plenty fun :) And for such a big anniversary, some 80s fake nostalgia kinda fit!
The tent didnt disappoint! Every set and vjing was excellent.
AND SO MANY HUGS \o/
Fear the post party depression...

Happy to see Evoke still maintaining that family feeling and the coziness, despite getting real close to 600 visitors now. Really awesome compos too. All my love to everyone who made it possible. <3
Really enjoyed this party again. The DJ-sets and acts were fantastic. These are always important to me and Evoke rocked!
A bit annoying is the bar not being open 24 hours. I never realized too it would close at some point and therefore ran out of beer. Thankfully there was this really kind lady outside, who offered me a beer or two. I'm not sure who it was, Susencrusen perhaps?
In short: great organization, great people, great atmosphere, great music, great party!

orgas: can i haz a cut video capture of my interactive compo entry?
KeyJ: cool photos!
Thanks a lot, this was worth visiting Cologne. ;)
so many inspiring people at the same time/same place, only demoscene makes it possible (almost).
Thank you Evoke !
Thank you Evoke !
What a great party! Compos, atmosphere, DJ sets, the people... all fantastic!
The only complaint I have is that the volume during the last compo block was way too high, even after putting bits of tissue into my ears. Besides being simply too loud and thus ear-damaging, I also think it ruined audio quality by distorting the sound.
Apart from that, huuuge thanks to the orgas for providing such a great experience for us! <3

Thanks for the fun times, everyone who made Evoke what it was. And I appreciated the help and understanding people gave as we attempted (and failed) to make the demo work on the compo computers.
And it was neat to win the newcomer award. We knew we didn't have a chance to win the demo compo, but we were aiming for "fun story", since that was more in our reach (especially using Processing). Assuming we find a way back to the EU, we'll be back. We already have a few ideas that we've sketched out, one of which is Evoke specific.
Still not sure what people thought of the demo, since "quirky" seems the most common adjective, but hopefully people enjoyed it. Clearly the newcomer panel found it entertaining. And I even enjoyed reading the haters comments on Twitch. I mean, we understand that our skills, umm, lack refinement, so the insults were mostly funny. Even though the end production was something we spent a ton of time on.
Shameless plug for the capture I made shortly before the compo:

...and looking at it, I like to think that from the first Narwhal scene to the last scene (and credits), it shows roughly what our learning curve was as we put it together. I kind of wonder what it would have looked like had the first scene we did not been the first scene.

For general Evoke things, it was a nice experience. I made it to Revision at Easter, and this was Dusty's first party. They seemed to have a fairly similar vibe for me, though I would have liked the newcomers' table, especially for Dusty. People were friendly, but actually making friends is still a bit difficult.
We wound up sitting next to a person not really interested in talking (Not judging -- I've had many points of being antisocial or introverted, and there's nothing wrong with that.), and a group that spoke a language we couldn't understand, so it limited the socialness.
Then again, I was stressing over trying to add one last thing, or trying out various stuff for the demo, despite having it almost entirely done before the weekend.
But it was nice to see various people again (And nice to introduce Dusty to Saga^Musix, so he can continue knowing everyone.), meet LiSU to put a face to a name in IRC, talk with Rene (I think. I managed to forget him for a while, and we were certain he said his name was Christian at first, so not really clear on things...) after we met him in line, corner Fizzer for a while despite him having no idea who we were, and on and on.
And other things were quite good as well -- things seemed to go fairly smoothly, the beam team did a solid job (and were friendly to me, of course), checking in was fairly painless even if the line started in the rain, and it was always fun to start dancing to whatever music was around.
And the productions were good, too, of course. The compos were neat, and it's always interesting to see what people bring/come up with. I might complain about various things about certain entries (e.g., the inherent problem, pointed out earlier, of photographs with the things that took artistic skills rather than just the skill of an artistic eye.), but I'm glad for pretty much every entry that made it into the compos.
Thanks again to everyone, and here's to hoping we find a way to wind up back in the EU and back at Evoke next year.

Awesome party as usual! I feel like I said hi to everyone I wanted to say hi to, yet didn't get to spend enough time with any of them! Met some new awesome faces in the process.
Overall it was pretty great, well organized as we've all come to expect :) I love this location, including the skate park, and what a massive bunch of compos! Definitely loved the up close and personal Logicoma set, wish it could last forever!
One thing that did sort of ruined the PC compo block for me was the sound :S I don't know what went wrong as it was fine the rest of the party, but it was way too loud and clipping all the time. Please have a sound guy next time that both hears and knows what to do about such issues... But at some point I just sat outside where the sound was fine and enjoyed it none the less :)
