Prods that need capture for youtube
category: general [glöplog]
Hi All,
Any prods that need a capture for upload to youtube?
post them here and I'll see what i can do.
i'm familiar with winUAE, VICE, snes and sega emulators etc
in the process of trying to get 3d acceleration working with Virtual Box for older demos as well.

@Gargaj ?
Select * from $database WHERE 'youtube' = 'NULL' & paste here ? :)

I feel like there should be some "request capture" feature that gets enabled a week after release (to encourage authors to handle it themselves as well and preventing new releases cluttering when impatient guys mash it upon release).
Enough votes would push it on top of an accessible list and guys can snap it easier. Other condition would prioritise well rated / cdc prods without a video if there are no active requests.
Another feature is to possibly allowing some method of contact to the authors who can verify the capture as well, considering that the guy capturing it hasnt likely seen it as intended.
Capture guy pushes (Offer capture) and a ~2 day embargo to verify starts; All the tagged authors / uploader get notified and if there is no response, it gets pushed as an yt link. This way some not-so-obvious sync bugs and such could be communicated before many get to see a broken capture.
This is just one of the many ideas to offer/request captures and making it easier for capture guys to follow these and prioritise.
I like to capture stuff in bulk, if i can sort a list based on platform, id rather just do more than one in a session.
Setting up stuff is always its own ritual, but once things are "ready", its easy to do stuff in an assembly line.

+1 for oasiz' suggestion
Recently starting a Demoscene related youtube channel myself I've found I'm looking for gaps to fill in the capture stakes, some easy to view indication of missing captures would be beneficial.
The demoscene parties (at least the big ones like Revision) could provide captures made during the live stream (from the PC source without the ambience). Assembly already does this.
Basically all old Java applet demos.
all
Doing borg now...
Borg done and submitted, doing kikumoto by vovoid now
will get around to making a VM to capture all those old java prods

Cool, got my hands full now ;)
soz Adok, I can't get it to run
Try the 640 version (higher resolution) here
Good luck with the old Komplex browser stuff. You'll need the horrible old Microsoft JVM for all of those, jview and quite some time to get some proper results. =)
Thanks for the tips tomaes, I'm concentrating on getting older win95/98 demos working atm
after a day of trying various VM's DosBox etc ,Iv'e decided to try to use w.i.n.e
(unbuntu)

I've tried to capture this myself, but capture software only works once the demo starts, and the first fraction of a second is always cut off. I think this demo should be seen more, as I love the effects (especially the video-looking part) and the tune is catchy.
