Going to parties with a social phobia

category: parties [glöplog]
>50 parties is reached rather quickly if you visit 4-5 of them per year :)

And I really have to second that each one has its unique flavour. As a rule of thumb, smaller parties are better suited for socializing while the larger ones have stronger compos and events.

Also, no one forces you to be present at the party place all the time - it´s totally fine if you take some time off in between or just come for two days, just make sure not to miss the prime compo time^^

A point made before, but generalized: Talk to extroverts first. They're the minority, but usually pretty easy to identify. Thing is, the extroverts tend to

a. know people
b. like people (you included)

If you don't know who to approach, ask an organizer at the infodesk which scener you should go talk to. They know.

I remember fondly some Breakpoint, long ago, which was (afair) Preacher's first non-Finland demoparty. We met, and I showed him around, introduced him to people. I was quite the Traction fan at the time, so I was like omfg i'm talking to Preacher!. Turns out he was like omfg i'm talking to new people!.

Good to know every party has its unique flavor. I feared that every party would be equally unfitting to very introverted and/or shy people.

Yes, at Revision '15, we left the place quite often (remember, too loud ^^) and visited the department store (media markt) in the close proximity and so on. Also being outside to eat something from the food trucks.

Thing is, I really don't (don't really) plan to stay overnight, let alone for several days. One day is really enough (after that I have to rebuild energy being alone for myself for quite an amount of time ;) so staying several days would suck/drain so much energy out of yourself... This doesn't have to do with demoscene parties, but with being an intro(vert).

You mentioned extroverts :) They can recharge their batteries by "bathing in the crowds" or being on stage and so on. (I'm jelly, whatta!!! :D ) But extros are quickly in a depressive mood when being on their own for some time, so it's exactly the opposite. Sorry offtopic...

Sooo... a ticket for Revision would realy be too expensive for just staying for one day. Too bad it's not organizable/realizable to sell low-cost one-day-tickets (or is???). Because, how should the party organiziers of party-doormen know if a certain person has bought a 3-day or 1-day ticket when many people go in and out. That could turn out chaotic, I think.

But on smaller parties, the 3-day tickets prices are ok (tUM ticket prices were ok), so this shouldn't be that much of a problem altogether. Also, tUM is quite close to where I live, so that's extra nice. :)

Traction/Preacher? Hm. Doesn't ring a bell. See, that happens when you don't visit parties often, haha. :D
