category: general [glöplog]
ECHTZEIT + E-0010 present
*THE DEMONIGHTS*
revive the dormant scene spirits
On Saturday, April 29, the first edition of DEMONIGHTS will take place at E-0010.space, the "Electric underground" beneath the http://www.effinger.ch coffee bar / coworking space in Bern. This is the first of a planned new series of meetups with demoscene focus n this brand new location. The format and program is open - we will in any case run a demoshow of the best productions from Revision, as well as winners of the Meteoriks Awards for this time.
For inspiration and glimpses of the "party place": http://e-0010.space/vr
Cover charge: CHF 10.- (tip jar)
Doors open at 19:00h
Demoshow from 20:00h
Doors closing at midnight
The Effinger-Kaffeebar upstairs is closed, we will find another way of supplying you with drinks.
Where? Effingerstrasse 10, Bern, Switzerland. Underground -2: entrances will be marked.
Ideally reachable by public transport, the location is reachable in 5 minutes by foot from the main train station in Bern.; There is no parking directly on site: please use nearby designated city parking houses.
From this meetup a regular series of events should take place multiple times a year - it will be really great if you can participate, and contribute in any form you can to make it an awesome one!
The name, of course, is a follow up to Demodays - the event series attempts to be the small brother of the Demodays :) But we'll start small and slowly, and see where this leads to.
If you want to come, we will be happy, if you could leave us a quick note with the number of people here, or on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/1687186578242688/). Thanks! Seism, Unlock and all the other Echtzeit guys look forward to see you there :-)

Hey here's a little run down on the details & further information: https://slack-files.com/T04GW5BBE-F53DRGBK7-d2fb750917. looking forward to see you there!
If you want to make this a monthly even (like demoklubi in Helsinki), we could share the "all demos that are not just scrollers of the previous month" list that we assemble for each month anyway with you.
And if you want, you could add your votes to it, to count towards the klubi awards.

@urs sounds tempting to me! we will see how it evolves - and we'll discuss this. it's not our premier goal to get this to happen monthly, tho. as long as it is among "regular" and "more than once a year". how would that voting work?
its on!
report!
now, how did it work out?
it worked out very well. we have not forgot about reporting back here, just let us do more important things first :)
ok well alright the large long colorful report didn't work out, because of things. so here's a little homebrew and fast typed wrap up.
we had something around 25 people all together showing up. not all of them stayed for all the shows. as planned, we had three "parts" of the evening and started with a meteoriks winners show, followed by a "biased selection of best of revision" show and we ended the evening with a "play random demos" show (including wursttunnel and winnerdemo). people showing up ranged from demoscene followers to oldschoolers, from game-dev dudes to affiliates of the effinger community (co-working space where the e-0010 is located).
since this was the first event in the new "e-0010" space/location, it was all quite improvised. but we found a good new use for the buenzli pillows ;-). audio & video quality is something we gonna address for future demonights, too. we can't stress things too much, this has to grow, together with the ongoing "pimping" of the location.
we do now want to go on with the flow - the feedback was great and people really enjoy meeting each other again. it's our idea to provide time/space/facilities and get the content contributed by visitors. demoshows should of course stay part of the thing, but there is also room for seminars/talks/workshops/concerts/discussion/younameit. currently planning on one, two upcoming event dates (so that we can announce them a tiny bit earlier). we also want to have larger silent breaks between the demoshows/parts so that people can talk. we felt like we had too much going on while people we just sitting in the dark instead of doing "socializing" activities.
all in all, for a first time event, this was a great and motivating evening. we feel pushed to keep going. a big thank you & mad props to everyone who showed up. it's a great pleasure to feel your appreciation and continued interest in the demoscene :) and love to seism for his engagement and will to make this possible (and pushing me to it, too)!
