i can see demoscene.com being LOWER-4-figure $, but for the rest it's out of boundaries.

(I second your sentiment, though; demoparty.com is no TLD, and certainly no gTLD.)
If you demand $5000 for a domain, then it is unlikely that a demoscener will purchase it. However, it would be bad if the domain got lost to a non-scener. I'd suggest that an organization such as Scene.org, Digitale Kultur or Tastatur und Maus purchase the domain with money donated by volunteers. I'd be ready to donate a bit.
I don't believe losing a domain name where nothing really happened is a loss...

I think that demoscene.org (and .com) could be a good alternative name(s) for scene.org site.
On the other hand, demoparty.com (or .org) has less value cause if somebody knows the word "demoparty" then probably will search specifically for one (Evoke, Revision, VIP). Again, maybe the guys of demoparty.net could be interested but I doubt it.

Honestly, just a central hub with general demoscene sites would do. Doesn't have to be much more than a static page with some links to demozoo/pouet/scene.org/csdb/ada/etc.
