Selling all my demoscene-related gTLDs
category: general [glöplog]
Hello,
I wanted to inform the demoscene community I am selling my 19-year old gTLDs demoscene.com demoscene.org demoparty.com and demoparty.org on Afternic (although demoscene.org listing is pending).
I hope someone from here has the finances to acquire one of them.
PS : yes I need the money, non-related to group or current inactivity
Kind regards

I'll pay $0.
Consider scene.org interested and ready to enter negotiations.
I miss demoscene.org - I still have it bookmarked on my local home page.
5.5k !
i'll pass

wtf $5k _EACH_?! That's insane.
In real terms these are maybe "worth" 100 each. And this just smells like long-con domain squatting, tbh.
$100 each I'd consider, just for old times sake. Maybe a bit more. $5k is straight up unrealistic especially for something that hasn't been used so has no traction.
Are you fucking shitting me.
thinking of someone paying 5000+ USD for a demoscenerelated domain. well I want to have what you have been smoking for sure..
Baudsurfer, are you also asking a bum for a dollar?
so the thing is, "short term that has a wikipedia page" dot tld usually does indeed bring in $5000 these days. i wouldn't be surprised if baudsurfer used some tool that checks google keyword search counts and stuff like that for the word, and comes up with an estimate. this estimate.
however, tools are just tools and in this case the tool was wrong. nobody is going to pay that kind of money for these particular domains because the domain names are inherently non-commercial in nature.
so baudsurfer, think again - get rid of afternic entirely and just start emailing with the friendly scene.org people. lower the price to little over how much you paid over 19 years to keep the domains active, and you might stand a chance. nobody is going to buy these guys for more than that.

there's a make an offer section..
so offer what you think its worth..
remember: it's only worth what someone will pay for it

I'll buy you a beer and talk size coding with you at a demoparty of your choice. Anything else is a travesty.
TBH, if I owned such domains and someone offered me 5.5k for them, I'd gladly sell.
So if Baud gets such an offer and ends up making a bunch of cash, more power to him.

It's prolly gonna get picked up by a domain squatting company, so yea, "more power to him".
do domain squatters now pay $5000 for unproven demand? wow.
just tried one of those valuator things, and i could be rich! (if i sold it)
Domain: Favicon of spiny.org spiny.org
Estimated Value: $ 10,736.43

Lol, 5k compo won by Baudsurfer!
This should be passed to people of the demoscene, not sold to people outside of it, especially at such a high and stupid cost. Anyway, he owns them, so he does wtf he wants with them. Put, what noby said.
here's your 5k, now gimme a domain!
Gargaj: You say that as if it's a bad thing, I don't quite understand why. Here's another URL I couldn't give a single piece of airborne fecal matter about: http://www.thedemoscene.nl/
“Airborne fecal matter”!
