AXS softsynth/tracker

Anyone still have this awesome little program archived?
I have the 2.03 demo version for DOS. It was made freeware with version 3.0 some years back, but I never downloaded that because it was win95/98 (or at least I can't find it in my archives anywhere.)
I would be absolutely thrilled to get a copy of 3.x or even better a registered/freeware DOS version if you feel like sharing. :) Or if someone knows how to reach the devs I'd love to get in touch.
The former website was at www.resolutionaudio.nl - not having any luck with the wayback machine unfortunately.

Okay, the wayback machine suddenly started working again, so I've got the 3.00 Beta 4 full for Windows (and it works great under WINE, except for about 1/4 sec of audio latency.)
I'd still like to get my grubby mitts on a full DOS version if anyone has it!

You might as well check out the full version of the conceptually similar Dreamstation (v1.0); far less cramped interface. And no problems with audio latency either (the default response time of 250ms can be set all the way down to 23ms)
^^ I didn't know about that one, it looks neat! I was just dicking around with a Win98 laptop to run AXS 3.0 on; I'll give them both a try. (Note: pretty sure the only reason I'm getting latency with AXS is because I was running it on WINE.)
I still *really really want* the full DOS version of AXS so that I can use it on my DOS/GUS/AWE64 tracker workstation that is integrated into my music setup though. :)

jmph: You may want to bookmark this: ModLand tracker archive. No need for the Wayback machine, it's already preserved. :)

The 2.03 version for DOS was also made freeware: https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20010605185423/http://www.resolutionaudio.nl:80/files.html Unfortunately the file itself is missing from Wayback. I might have it somewhere...
I probably got it somewhere, I did a music entirely for a demoscene CD-Audio called "Audiophonic":
https://soundcloud.com/chiptune/spectral-vision
If I remember well, it was a kind softsynth recreation of the Roland JP8000 with a cute little protracker-like tracker (that's why I choose that synth over others).

@rez - great track! Can I get the module anywhere?
Yeah it's an amazingly good synth engine for its time. Huge sounds, not overly harsh or thin like other early soundsynths. Was talking about it on a facebook group I'm on and I got the bug to see how far I could get with it, I bet there's a bunch of complete tracks in there for me. Also it looks like you can hook it up to MIDI and use it as a sound module in a bigger setup which is neat.
On that note, apparently my P266MMX w/64MB isn't powerful enough for Dreamstation but AXS runs great. ;)

@jmph: it's your lucky day!
i found my archive with the DOS version of AXS I used to make my music, and of course the .axs file of the music you heard :)

I like the "Full version registered to..." string :D
@Saga Musix: ho? what is written exactly? I don't remember :D
Radium 1.998-Deepz0ne ;D
hoo sounds like a legit family name for sure ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Hahaha I noticed that too. Thanks for uploading Rez!
@Saga did you get it to run all the way? I can't seem to get it going on anything. It displays the first screen with the "registration" info ;) but then crashes with a PMODE error. Same result on Dosbox, my FreeDOS workstation under two different memory managers, an MS-DOS(/win98) laptop, etc. No luck.

2.03 demo works fine on all the above machines btw.

Except when it doesn't. ;) That rig should be powerful enough for DS (unless you plan to use all 32 channels), but the 64 MByte RAM seems to be a deal-breaker. It also needs DirectSound.
jmph: Only got to test it in DOSBox so far, and I observe the same error as you do. But given that it's Tran's PMODE, maybe try it without any memory managers maybe?
Exciting news! The old, old Maz-sound site has the freeware DOS 2.03. No Pmode errors!
The site calls it the "demo" but it does appear to be the fully functional free version (saves, wavewriter, etc.)
Time to update some archives I think. :)

Thanks to Saga Musix for giving me the heads-up on this thread. I've preserved all the files (including Milky) on modland now.
For anyone else; I'm a co-admin on Modland, so anything anyone wants preserved, feel free to poke me :)

For the record, the newly uploaded axsfree.zip on Modland is binary identical to the original Axs_Free_Version.zip, which is missing from archive.org's mirror of the original web site. Maybe rename it to match the original filename? I guess Maz prefers DOS filenames. ;)
The Radium 1.998-Deepz0ne version in axs.zip is modified. I have the original scene release, and the executable is slightly different. Maybe that's why it crashes. Do you want me to upload it somewhere, menace?

@menace - awesome! I've recently gotten access to a lot of my floppies & CD-R backups from back in the day, I'll hit you up if something I don't see on the archive pops up. I've downloaded a LOT of different trackers over the years. ;)
Incidentally the AXS drumkits & example songs on the archive.org page are mostly still downloadable if anyone was after them (the songs are already on Modland actually.)

@absence: Put it in the upload folder on ftp.spaceballs.no and I'll grab it from there.
@jmph: Same goes for you.
And thanks for the Modland love :) If anyone needs anything fixed/changed/improved/added or just want to tell me I suck I'm send me an email - glennlunder74 at googlemailsystemtypething com.

Hi,
I happened to find this page, and I also used to love the AXS Synthesizer. I registered here just so I could share it with you.
Here is a link to version 3.00, it works well on Windows 10 still:
