Tokyo Demo Fest 2017

category: parties [glöplog]
Hello,

We're happy to announce that TDF2017 will take place on the weekend of February 18th and 19th. The party place is the same as last year, namely the 3331 Arts Chiyoda in the vicinity of the Akihabara district.

We invite you to make a demo about it, or a music, or a picture, or anything that would otherwise fit in a wild compo, and come show it to a cheering crowd.

In the meantime you are strongly encouraged to visit our website, http://tokyodemofest.jp/2017/, marvel at its avant-garde design courtesy of TRBL, and share it with all your friends on all kinds of social networks and other similar things millenials use nowadays.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Tokyo.

Is the remote-entry deadline the same as the in-person entry deadline?

1 question: is there will be a livestream for sofasceners? (like me)
Yes, kindly provided by our sponsor. :) We'll post the link.

But you should come instead!

I would've thought everyone made the jump to Twitch by now.

You betcha! Next year perhaps?
As a side note.
Why not considering to push the date a little, when the sakuras started to cherrish?

I can only second sim. I would like to go to Tokyo Demo fest when the weather is nice enough to use the bike in Tokyo.

Do the airfares jack up around sakura time? I would think that would be a heavier travel season.

Zavie: sorry for not getting back at you because of the release. When I wrote that oneliner I had just realized that I already exceeded the deadline and was nowhere near of finishing the release in time so I went to sleep(was already 5 am here). :/

Sakura is indeed a more expensive time to fly at.

Around new year like demofest does is not bad at all in terms of airfare.

In terms of weather, you could prefer to have it in october where it's still warm and also quite beautiful with the maple trees getting red. It's called koyo and is a bit like sakura season, except for autumn and although its a busy tourism season in japan, it's mostly internal tourism because foreigners don't generally know about it

@exin:
Exactly what I was thinking about (visiting all the ARCADE shops like BEEP, MAK, G-Front and Sophia \o/). And if properly organized with money and time, with a small trip to Kyoto/Osaka! Or.. OKINAWA (mon amour).

@ _-_-__ :
I second you, my friend. To meditate the aspect of a passing time is something I would love to do, as well.

About the money. Well, my (personal) philosophy is to save 100/200 by not buying some terrestial pleasing thingies and to put it on the ticket fare! So EZ, so tuff ;).

@Zavie:
Do you consider such a time-shift, or it is more complicated due to some roganisational/personal cases? Just asking.

We really liked the February date last year - flights were rather cheap, and the weather was nice enough to walk around in just a T-Shirt, at least during the day.
Also, you can still use your leave days from the year before, at least in Germany. :-)
We'll come again next year, but I'd really prefer if it's in February again.

There is indeed a very early discussion on the possibility of changing the date, how we'd feel about it.

I like Feb., although koyo does sound interesting.

would be great seeing demos made for “obscure” hardware like Bandai RX-78, Casio PV-1000, etc.
