Demobit 2017 - 27-29 January - Bratislava, Slovakia
category: parties [glöplog]
this weekend was most fun i've had in years.
Very very enjoyable party - the location is awesome (actual kitchen!) and you're doing something right when the biggest issue is that you immediately outgrew it :) Very happy to hang out with Nula / Navis / PS again a bit (guys, Revision ffs!), got to meet some new ones, and I guess this whole music compo thing might be turning out to be fun after all :) I think the most fun part for me was to finally go outside Hungary but still be in "the region" - definitely a welcome addition to the Central/Eastern European party roster.
There were obviously issues (and most of them avoidable ones - which might be worth another separate discussion because a lot of parties seem to make the exact same mistakes nowadays) but I'm willing to give more slack to a party that is essentially in its first edition :)

i'll do my best to be there next year!
This was an awesome party... so inspiring. Thank you Zden and the staff.

:(.. because of music compo on Friday?
nope... i had to attend the birthday party this saturday of someone important. music compo on Friday is not a problem either. Given the accomodation even the late prizegiving wouldn't have been a problem. I was a bit scared of the entry fee but hey it's completely reasonable since I've heard the party was of great quality.
I am rooting for next year! in the meantime, everyone come to QBParty and Function in HU ;)
Btw, were are the party pictures?
I know it's common to say "great party", but it was a great party.
Many familiar faces, good family vibe and smiles all around ! \o/

Yes, it was a nice party. Greetings to Zden, Citrus, zeroshift, ps, Retroherna, Redox. I will hopefully be there again next year.
Without you people from all around the Europe it won't be the real thing.
Thanks for believing we will try to deliver certain standard and please you for your visit.
Thanks to everyone who came or planned ( some people bought the entrance and didn't make it :( ) and of course to those who delivered stuff to show!
( sorting remote prods in progress, going to mail tomorrow ).
Finally I'm catching up so please have a look at some pictures: www.flickr.com/photos/demobit
There is plenty more, so we'll try to put everything interesting together.
We received many feedbacks of valid points.
I didn't know what will happen at that nights and how the whole party will end up. I kept rather low expectations, but it worked out to be something what I'll never forget.
I missed most of the speakers but I'm happy we have a recording and now I can enjoy also that part. There were only few moments I could properly talk for a while or focus on that so sorry for poor socializing.
Let's hope everyone involved with realising the party will be happy and we will be able to deliver even better experience next year. Looks good to me now. Let's see... :)
Thanks again and hope to see you next time!

Where can we download the presentations of the speakers?
TomCat: you can watch them here but you kinda have to search for them. but better than nothing, right? :D
Hello, I wrote a small Demobit demo compo review and linked to recorded seminars, but they went offline. Any chance of making them public again?
Lazarus: got a mail from zden informing that the livestream captures had to be taken down due to copyright claims but that he was gonna reupload the talks soon. so i guess it's coming. thanks for the democompo review article, there should be more of these. :)
Raises a good point though - where's the ArtWay demo?
Surprise! ;)
Lazarus: nice write-up. Waffles \o/

ps: Thanks for the info! So it's just a matter a time. And maybe Zden will upload them as separate videos, this would be even handier.
cxw: Yay! :)
Thank you for your kind words, I will continue to create such write-ups then. It seems that I got shadowed at reddit.com/r/Demoscene for posting own stuff, so I'll drop a link on party's pouet thread if there will be something new from me.

EviL: Thank you!
Gargaj: They are pretty paranoid about posting links to own website or from only one source. When they detect this you can still post, but others don't see it. This was my second share on Reddit and it's not visible in the main list to anyone except me. Even if you post like once in a year it's still a spam for them, no matter the content.
People organise into sharing-rings to post links from friends, but this is also forbidden and penalised with shadow-bans. The only solution is to wait for someone to really find it or have 1:10 ratio of self vs other links.

who's "They"? Reddit mods or r/demoscene mods?

oh sorry, we got some issues with some parts. I'll bring them back in separate uploads for sure. Right now let's do it like this - I'll change the status of Saturday's recording to unlisted - so the blog will work, meanwhile I'll do separate cuts for each talk and then you can update.
Re: reddit - it's easy to get shadow banned on Reddit. :) Really promoting a link to your own project is in certain subs probimited. But it's also possible to get it back :) write them. Got over it too...
Gargaj: whoever created global Reddit rules and automatic "spam" filters, I'm not blaming r/Demoscene mods.
Zden: Hey, that's great, thanks! Also thanks for the advice, I contacted r/Demoscene moderators and they published the link :)
