So what does "the main party will be on the train" mean? Will there be a dedicated car for the partypeople with its own ~bigscreen? Is Amtrak run by sceners? (please say it is ;) )

Sorry for the delay in responding, it's been hectic. We are planning to have a site up that answers all of these questions soon.
We will more or less be regular passengers on the train, but if all goes well people will be joined into a "group" (as if we had purchased a group ticket) before the train leaves. Then we will get to board together. Depending upon the size of the group we may have a car to ourselves, but that is not guaranteed.
We can talk, use computers (power outlets are provided), and consume food and drink that we buy on the train, which includes alcohol. Actually because Amtrak is based in the US it can sell alcohol in the US but not in Quebec - shocking, I know! However, we are only on the train and in Quebec for a short portion of the trip, and then we'll go to the compos where alcohol is allowed.
