yeah, well, how many of you guys have been posting here & there for *years* now, repeating endlessly how much he's not legit/he's a lier?
as seen from here, it almost looks like harassment to me ... and being ironic doesn't make it look better, no matter the (lack of) quality of the past releases under NE demogroup.

Separate old RSI and new RSI to different group IDs --> problem goes away or is at least diminished a lot.
What does the Pouet site and database imply in your opinion? Highly disputed things are being stated as a seemingly undisputed fact all the time. Every time there is a page query about group number 992, disputed stuff is being told without being labeled as such.
I don't understand what Baudsurfer tries to achieve by trying to claim that his new RSI "is" in some way the same as the old RSI. If he had any sort of proof, he would have presented it a long time ago. He cannot possibly win this.
Even if he did have proof, it would be ridiculous to claim that it "is" the same group. It was discontinued, killed, died away and ceased to exist. If it was a rock band, do you think music writers or historians would refer to it in a way that lets the reader think it is somehow the same rock band that disbanded 20 years ago? Of course not! It would be unprofessional and idiotic. Now there's a guy that claims to have been a roadie with the Beatles in the 60s, so now his rock group is The Beatles... implying that it's actually the same group where John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr used to play in? Of course not! It would be IDIOTIC to do so. But now we have this site that claims to store music history information, and they have a rock band database, and they have given this new "Beatles" the SAME ID NUMBER as The Beatles from the 1960s, and their works are in the same list? Completely ok? Of course it's completely OK, because this new "Beatles" has made good songs, and it's not nice to disagree with anybody? What.

... and of course, to make things less confusing, we're making sure that everyone reminds that Baudsurfer was once Kozmik^NE ?
Brilliant...
Brilliant...
Even if Paul McCartney himself set up a new rock band and called it "The Beatles", and if there were no legal contracts and trademarks and such preventing him from using that name, would everybody think it's the same group and people would refer to the new group as if it was the same The Beatles from the 1960s? No. It would be called something like "Paul McCartney's new Beatles" to not confuse it with the original Beatles, regardless of what string of characters there is on the new group's album covers. And it would be given a separate artist ID in a database that tries to model the history of rock groups in a way that represents how people actually see them.
So. Baudsurfer has not presented any proof of having been a member of the original RSI.
And. Even if he came up with such evidence and so would legitimize his claims of having been a member, his new group should not be confused with the old original RSI.
I'm not really saying so much about the Baudsurfer case. My opinion is more related to Pouet's design. Demozoo is apparently trying to do some things better, but I'm not sure how well it will work.

What about this one ? RSI (pre-new) ? RSI (post-old) ?

fra: Jazzmacx Tas Takeover was a special event along this idea "Old unreleased things, rotting on your disks, don't let them die, they have feelings too!" so it's previously unreleased RSI production made in 1993, finished/release in 2007. Due to nature of the event, this can't be considered a new RSI relelase.
Btw. that party/compo idea was very cool. I also released an unfinished project of mine there.

would you please stop comparing RSI and The Beatles? ;_;
actually plenty of 'revival bands' that have no original members at all, so, that would mean baudsurfer's RSI should be called 'RSI revival band'.

Just a funny name that came to my mind.

I'm not a big fan of Rolling Stones but there was that guy called Ian Steward - he was a co-founder of the band (keys), later denied as an on-stage musician but stayed with them as a road manager until he died in 1985. Now lets imagine that Stones disbanded at some time and he decided to revive the band with totally different musicians. Obviously it would have nothing to do with THE Rolling Stones as we know them.
I do think that Baudsurfer's version of history is POSSIBLE, and I do think that he's a great coder now, but I also do agree with yzi that his RSI now has nothing to do with THE RSI. Nothing ever will unless at least half of the founding members are present. Time goes on, people are gone, world has changed, there are no BBS'es, phreaking, underground C64 scene, etc.
So, I vote separate this RSI from THE RSI. Even if Baudsurfer comes out with a proof one day. I'd merge it only if other founding members join him (which probably won't ever happen).

That would actually be funny.

if the pouet forums had sticky posts, the original post on this thread would be the first candidate.
if the pouet had sticky oneliners, the one where you cried over brexit would be the first candidate.
The one where I said it was a disaster? Sure, why not. Altho it would probably make more sense to sticking scene related entries as it's a scene related site.
I suggest two things, in sequence: 1) Move this new RSI group and its releases into a separate database entry. 2) Ignore the topic and any future trolling attempts regarding it.
Lol, can't wait for Gargaj to close this thread as well.

Is in discussion and will probably happen.

It's apparently too fascinating for many, so this will likely not happen. ;)
As a long time lurker I have to point out something:
The idea that someone called "Baudsurfer" was a co-founder of a group in the eighties is ridiculous. You see, the term surfing wasn't associated with the Internet until early nineties and didn't become widely used until mid 90's. In the days of BBS's no one was using that term.
So unless Baudsurfer used some other alias back in the days then he not only co-founded a famous group but also invented a very popular expression years before others!

I'm sure this is what he will/would claim.

And I am sure there is nothing fascinating. I don't know whole story and I really do not care to know it more than I do at the moment so if he claims anything, there are always some strong proofs of activity, if there is no proofs, then subject is closed. I think you could get to this conclusion long months ago. Unless you want me to kick his ass by the next occasion.
In other words, kicking his ass once or twice would be more interesting than leading the public lynch and the sarcastic threads for ages.
