Kickstarter for Atari ST Demoscene Book
category: general [glöplog]
For anyone who is into the ST-Stuff: i recently started a book about the Atari ST Demoscene, about the history and the art. It's a very design-orientated coffee table book, guided by an essayistic view onto the beginning of the 16-bit era.
It also tells the story of german game-developer Thalion, as they were formed by demoscene members. Might be also interesting to Amiga, PC and C64-Users as they have done legendary games for this machines, too. I' am in direct contact with the makers of that time.
For some layouts and informations around the concept, please refer to my webpage:

The forthcoming Kickstarter will be linked here. I am glad if you spread the word in the meantime.
Best regards to all of you!

Atari ST - basically an amiga without tits and pussy, difficult to learn, hard to master :D
Atari ST Demoscene?
€50 book?
€50 book?
why is the signed copy cheaper, does your autograph look THAT bad?
damn shame the price is so high. :( not an ST sceneer/giuy but would have just bought it for pretty pics etc otherwise
@Moredhel : you will never change and neither will the quality of your comments.
@AgentProvocateur : either this is humor or you are a moron (of course this comment is humour !)
50 euros for a 200 page 23x17cm book with shipping isn't so high and it takes ball to make dreams into reality. I wish I could make my own Democyclopedia blog into a book but it is atm too much work for a single man.
Oh and of course I'm digging up this topic in the hope that some interested people may contribute.

AMIIIIGAAAAAAHHH! :)
This is what you get when you mean you can have a serious thread on pouet. Lamers jumping on the train thinking they are funny and everybody else should have their opinion.
20 days left and the goal hasn't been reached yet but it can be with the help and support of Atari demos lovers !

Over 26 thousands of euros for making a book, I wonder how much do publishers pay for a book to moderately recognizable authors...
@rutra80: could it be that most of the money goes towards actually printing the book ;)
And then again when selling it for 35 euro?
@rutra80: huh? people who contribute to the kickstarter are paying 35€ towards the 26k€, and in return they get the book (if it's funded in full).
And the 35 is gone even, but anyway I paid way more, I am just crazy for Atari and it's history. I hope the project succeeds even if it seems unlikely now.
Either way I backed it.
I mean, first, one gets 26k euro for creating a book (minus costs of printing for those who pledged at least 35 euro), and then, after the book is created, one will charge at least 35 euro (probably more) for printing/selling each copy. It feels like charging for creation twice.
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against this project, I just ponder that it would be quite nice money, too nice I guess... Lower goal at this price, or lower price at this goal would be more realistic I guess.

Whut? People who pledged 35€ get a book, and that's it.
It's not, the book will be available for others to buy then, and still it will cost at least 35$ which is a lot (note that there's ~20k euro in the pocket already in such case).
