demojournal livestream idea

2100 CET or CEST?
looks like CEST to me.
merkur: you are technically correct. The best kind of correct.
Gargaj: That's awesome, but the real question is whether you're going to tune in on a regular basis.
Production value notwithstanding, I don't see why I wouldn't; I'm enjoying this.
it was fun to listen in the background, will definitely take part in later shows :)
while i was way too late, i enjoyed what i saw. will watch next episode =)
I enjoyed it!
Some ideas in no particular order:
Some ideas in no particular order:
- Reader mail, the host & guests could read them aloud and maybe answer some stupid questions.
- Top lists! Name the The Top 10 Coders like they did in scene mags. Drama guaranteed! :)
- Some slides, maybe show the list of demos in the beginning?
- Mix the voices so that some come from the right and some from the left.
- If you're using Mumble it's easy to get a overlay shown on the screen so the viewers can see who are talking at the moment. Helps to associate voices with nick names.
- Open up a twitter account where you can spam when the show goes live, and possibly answer some questions posted there too.
- Keep up the good work!
i guess it could have been worse. here is the youtube export:

lets see what we can improve for next month :)

skype worked ok compared to watch2gether, just sucks we didnt use it straight off the bat. also the good thing of skype is that if i bothered with obs layout i could put the video from the commentators on top of the demo so people could see who is talking when
Do bother with OBS layout, it helps a lot of the production value when you can put image overlays on top etc.
It was glitchy show but I think there is potential and now there's a bit of an idea where to guide the show. I'd have to agree with Gargaj that spending a bit of time with gettung OBS to work would help.
I take this first show as a technical test, spiced with some "having fun". Now go full ham on structure, like time frames dedicated to specific themes and/or overall topic for an episode.
The length was good, too. I wouldn't stretch the show to a point where people do have to think about whats left to say.
having four people was the right amount. Any more would make it difficult to discuss without a moderator.
So all in all. good start. I will be back!

a proper jingle (actually kb's jingle was pretty cool, just missing visuals) and some info overlays with transparency saying what the hell is playing now would also be a good improvement, will try to put something together for next month :) am a bit weary it'll involve constant obs clickery, but i guess i have to google it up a bit and figure out the best solution
first few minutes of technical difficulties aside, eventually it wasn't so bad. perhaps a prepared structure + prepared topics for a bit more talkshow style with guests skyping in to do their say about it rather than a free-for-all rant, might actually work nicely.
There's a lot of ways of getting OBS to show 'now playing' and other fancy info while streaming, it's a hassle to set up but once it works you don't have to keep switching scenes and layers if you automate it properly
The coolest and easiest way is the CLR plugin that will layer any webpage running stuff as a nice overlay: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/clr-browser-source-plugin.22/

what Maali said. it was quite entertaining. looking forward to the next show :)
I like the concept a lot, and enjoyed the recording of the first prototype episode (and even gained some insights!). Will probably miss the live streams most of the time, but will definitely watch the YouTube recordings!
here we go again
hadn't found much time to fiddle with obs overlays, but i got a more figured out list of things to talk about. not many demos in april unfortunately but we can always watch other stuff aswell ;)
if anyone has anything specific they would like us to comment on live, we are open to suggestions and will be following the chat at twitch.tv live.

some plugins from obs were supposedly outdated with the new version of obs, that left me a bit weary to lose much time with them. i did prepare the skype overlays though. and will also try to figure out realtime text to fill in what is playing and such info before the event.
if you do go ahead with this, it would be interesting to get the inside perspective on productions I think - so rather than people commenting their personal opinions, get the team responsible for [some demo] to reveal some behind the scenes stuff, and make the show about giving us some insights, making everyone smarter rather than about opinions.
just my 2 cents.. :)
just my 2 cents.. :)
yeah, that makes sense, i'll try to do that as much as i can, always depending on peoples availability
