Bitmap fonts database
category: general [glöplog]
Hi,
is there any alternative to that old good site http://cgi.algonet.se/htbin/cgiwrap?user=guld1&script=fonts.pl ?
It was a db of bitmap fonts for demoscene (with author/prodname) and it's sadly down :/

I collected a bunch of fonts here: http://www.ancientspledge.com/fonts/
I got no metadata or database though, but I also would be interested in that.

Did anyone rip the ultimate bitmap font (in my opinion)? The one used in the Dance Diverse #2 music disk scroller. It was drawn by Eracore I think

Adventure Game studio , ags, has famous extensions for bitmap fonts to convert bitmaps to Arrays of dynamic sprites.
Best that came of it is a Program that loads a .ttf , lets You set some parameters like size and bevel, and generates You a bitmap font and a php file all with The glyph coordinates to The bitmap. Sadly only 16bit rgba.

I made this for the Smurffi diskmag in 1996. Some of the chars were used for in-article images and UI elements:
Plenty of never-used special characters there. For the sake of completeness, I guess :)

Added. =)
Neoman. Nice, but an actual web page with the fonts would be even better... just saying...
raer, yeah I was also thinking about a site with thumbnails, a search and maybe an autodetection for the grid. But for now I'm just collecting...
And I really prefer hand-pixeled love instead of converted TTF fonts ;)

A pretty nice selection in artcity (with the tag "font") :

@_solo_: bookmarked thx!
Thanks guys - added all the fonts.
You can also search websites that archive sprite sheets of all the 90s games. many of them include sheet fonts. Very lowres.
