Concept artists in the game industry

As a lot of demosceners work (-ed) in the game industry, maybe they can answer to my question: is there any chance for a concept artist to be hired by a company as a freelance homeworker?
Yes.
cutter: that's a rather broad question; the short answer is "yes" but that's just statistics, in reality it depends on how good you are, which company you pick, which country, etc.
