Nice idea/job making a list, there are few problems with it though.
For example "7. Intrisic Gravity by Still" is dated December 2014.
This code generates more accurate list:
Try it here (and just set limit=50).
You will get a bit different result.
Unfortunately, it still still feels not completely plausible, because this favorizes old entries, as people have less time to vote (thumb up) for the latest (say from UnC 2015).
Ideally, you would have to count number of thumbs up for the fixed amount of time, say 3 months from release. Or apply some kind of statistically valid metric, that will take all thumbs into account but with some weighting over time, but I would have no idea how to make one.
For example "7. Intrisic Gravity by Still" is dated December 2014.
This code generates more accurate list:
Code:
var now = new Date();
var start = new Date(now.getFullYear(), 0, 0);
var diff = now - start;
var oneDay = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24;
var day = Math.floor(diff / oneDay);
document.location.href='http://www.pouet.net/toplist.php?type=&platform=&days=' + day + '&limit=50';

wonder what two my prods in top. 10x to lvdildo and medikoment;)
And wait for the latest mercury release to get more votes... the party is over just a few hours ;-)
Detox is from 2014.
Thanks tomkh! I updated the script used to generate this list.
i think "top 10 zx enhanced" desrves category ;)
...also fixed the bug that appeared under top "10 128b" but only 9 shows up.
Luiz: your script works great, thanks!
Although, I think its better to modify second line in my part to:
So it will still work next year ;)
Ideally, toplist.php should support full date range (or is it supporting it already?).

Strange logic here:
1. BootChess by Red Sector Inc.
48 thumbs up
21 piggies
19 thumbs down
VS.
2. Safety First! by JCO
49 thumbs up
03 piggies
00 thumbs down

2. Safety First! by JCO

...I mean, if you want to generate top list 2015 in the begining of 2016, for example: to include few more thumbs.
@gaspode, it is likely to be due to the fact that the Pouet "popularity" includes pageviews, and given the amount of drama around "BootChess", as well as external traffic, it is quite likely to be enough to offset the thumb downs.
pageviews is definitely involved.
I think someone could bring any prod to the all time time with 2 IPs just reloading it.

Thumb downs and schwein aren't taken into account anyway, just the ups and popularity (unless the algo has changed).
Gargaj: ok, is "dateTo" supported as well ? I guess that would be quite useful.
So it works, lol :)

Ahhmazing :>

@Gargaj, it would usually be more important to select by the release date as opposed to the date when added to Pouet. Is there such functionality there? Is it planned by any chance?
I´m missing Atari STE and Falcon in the list.
Done with Luis Gonzales' original script, augmented to sizeprods and new categories such as 8k : you can get it here.
lol, I usually did these in the past, but I waited for the 1.1. of the following year to have more votes counted.
"the so famous pouët.net oneliner stats" are missing.. here's some waiting music
