Announcing: Meteoriks Awards 2016!
category: general [glöplog]
The Meteoriks are back!
The Meteoriks will be held for the second time in 2016 - and they're aimed to be a bit different. One important focus is the broad inclusion of both demomakers and -watchers by trying to have a very open process.
We listened to your feedback from last time and have made some changes that we hope you'll welcome.
This year, only the Public Choice and New Talent categories are preset: all other categories are open for proposal! No matter if you code on 30 year-old machines, do music on the newest of the new, or carve demogroup-logos into potatoes: there can be a category for you, if you propose it! The most fitting and popular will be chosen by the jury.
Head on down to http://2016.meteoriks.org to check it out and start participating!
It's on!

I don't know how to feel about this.
+1 oh and Best Gargaj award!
Step one: propose lots of bizzare categories
Step two: use the powers of REASON and COMPROMISE to choose the ones that actually make sense as awards
Step three: Jury the fuck!

I bet I'd lose that one to Smash too.

...but honestly i think it's gonna be fun, that concept could work :)
- best soundtrack containing zero dubstep elements.
- best pouët shitposter
- best pouët comment in a foreign language
In all honesty, I think this will most likely have a reasonably decent outcome. Maybe not perfect (we'll see), but at least it's a good attempt.
And I'm guessing there will be at least some filtering. There's only so many awards you can hand out anyway before it drags on too long.

BEST SOUNDTRACK
The best synced, best fitting soundtrack that glues audio and visual together.
Other than this basically saying "audio that glues audio and visual together", this description feels more like best direction to me.
only prods released in 2016?

- best horse themed demo
- best parody demo using horses
- best use of horse twerking in demo

Goblinish: you don't seem to understand how award shows work. The Meteoriks 2016 will honour all productions from 2015 (like, literally every award show ever)
- best technical achievement
works likely better for (fixed) oldschool platforms, but a nice category for showing prods that may be not that pretty/well directed but have some nifty (and fresh) ideas in code.

The jury for this category should consist only of jurors with year-long Russian scene drama experience. And I demand that their discussion has to be made public!
nominee AloneCoder as a worst Snowden!
